10 Things Every TCU Freshman Has To Do Before The End Of The Year

Freshman year is the year that you learn to live on your own, make a bunch of memories and make best friends. Freshman year is the time you can continuously make mistakes and it's still socially acceptable because you are learning. I hate to break it to you, but after freshman year you rapidly progress toward adulthood. You have to worry about jobs, internships and interviews. You also start going out less and begin to find joy in sitting on the couch on Friday nights. Make the most of your freshman year by doing all of these things before the year is over.

1. Jump in Frog Fountain

Yes, your RA might look at you weird when you run back to your dorms soaking wet, but it's worth it.

2. Steal a fraternity or sorority shirt

You can be awarded a shirt or you can just steal one out of your best guy friends drawer, either way works.

3. Go to Gulf Shores for Spring Break

What happens in Gulf Shores doesn't stay in Gulf Shores. You will remember the ridiculous things that happen for the rest of your lives. Warning: will be sick for weeks after.

4. Go Wednesday night bowling

Live a little. Go out on a Wednesday.

5. Play in the snow on snow days

Sorry freshmen, this one might not be possible this winter.

6. Volunteer at Kinderfrogs

The kids will instantly brighten your day, guaranteed.

7. Go to a baseball game

Yes, football is over, but baseball is almost as fun. Also, the boys aren't hard to look at.

8. Watch a movie in the Sherley movie theater

Nothing says lazy Sundays more than camping out in the movie theater all day.

9. Eat at Joe T's

Joe T's is hands down the best Mexican food in Fort Worth.

10. Go to the empty football stadium

Amon G. Carter is just as magical empty as it is with thousands of booming fans

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
