Summer is always the season I look most forward to! A break from crazy college classes, sunny days, and vacations with family and friends are on the mind! But, of course, my expectations for this sultry season usually fall short of reality, so here are 10 common summer expectations that often don't measure up to what actually happens!
1. I'm going to have more time to go to the gym and get fit!
Reality: *goes to multiple restaurants in a week*
2. I definitely need to spend more time in the sun!
Reality: I'm tired... maybe I'll just take another nap and watch TV.
3. I haven't seen my friends all semester. I'll call them and hang out!
Reality: But I'd have to get dressed and do my makeup and then there's all the energy it takes to entertain... maybe tomorrow.
4. I'm going to pick up a hobby and work hard at it!
Reality: *watches maybe one tutorial video and gives up*
5. I should really read at least one book.
Reality: But "Better Call Saul" and "Orange Is The New Black" are releasing new episodes... I'll read later!
6. Now's a great time to volunteer and give back to my community!
Reality: *continuously allows my anxiety to lord over my life so I can't even make a phone call*
7. I'm definitely going to do something I've never done before!
Reality: Nope, too scary, never again.
8. I'm going to go to the beach every single day.
Reality: My bed looks so comfy... and the beach is too hot and sandy. I'll go tomorrow.
9. I have to change my diet and start eating healthier.
Reality: Junk food and soda are my best friends and YOU CAN'T STOP ME.
10. I'll have so much free time to do whatever I want!
Reality: *works 30+ hours per week* Why am I so busy and tired and unmotivated?!
Hey, this summer isn't over yet, so I still have a lot of time to make it memorable! Your bed might look tempting, but summer only comes once a year. Get out there and make it awesome!
