10 Struggles of College Kids During Break

Who knew break would come with all these struggles?

Finals are over which means college students are headed back home for break. It's definitely a different dynamic being home for break than it was your whole life at home before college. Maybe it's because you never experienced the freedom college brings or maybe you're used to being an "adult" and don't want to be treated like a child again. Either way, here are some struggles of the college student during winter break.

1. Not having a car

For those of us who have cars at school and don't drive them back for break not having a car is the real struggle. Having to take parents to work, relying on your friends to drive all the time, or even having to share with siblings can be a burden. But, any of that is better than just not having one and being stuck in the house all day. Crazy how much we rely on our cars.

2. Having to do chores again

You're home again so your parents have another helping hand. Say hello to all whole lot of chores!

3. Waiting for all your friends to get back

Finals weeks are scheduled differently at schools across the country and waiting for your friends to come home seems like an eternity.

4. Being told what to do again

You got used to having freedom and now your parents think they can boss you around again. They may start telling you what time to be home at night, or they may even dictate what you can and can't do. It's hard getting used to that again!

5. Hearing your parents complain about your habits.

"You're so messy" or "So, are you just going to lay in bed all day?" *insert eye roll here*

6. Having to explain your final grades

The conversation that you have with your parents about the semester that they most likely helped you pay for will begin like so, "you know ... school gets rough sometimes," or "that professor was honestly crazy."

7. Having no motivation for anything besides laying in bed

I mean we just took finals what do you expect?

8. Missing your college friends

It's great being home and catching up with old friends, but there's just something about your friends from college.

9. Boredom

With no school, no sports, and an inactive social life, you don't even know what to do with yourself. Home isn't the same as a college town.

10. Wanting to go back but also wanting to stay home forever

It's definitely a battle every break.

Happy Break College Kids! Pretty soon you'll be back at school wishing you were home again, so use your time off wisely.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
