You always hear people point out that girl, the one with her hair perpetually up in a ponytail and in leggings and sweatshirt, as a "low maintenance" girl. And in the same breath, they'll point to the girl with flawless hair, makeup, and a perfect outfit, and they'll label her the "high-maintenance" girl. These labels have always given me trouble, because I see both of those girls in myself. So I created my own term, because I feel like many girls feel the same way as me--how they dress and style themselves sometimes depends on the day or circumstance. We're the middle of the road, a "mid-maintenance" girl. The following are the things that happen when you're a mid-maintenance girl.
1. Your morning routine could take anywhere from 5 minutes to 30 minutes--it just depends on how much time you're willing to spend on your appearance that day.
Some days it's more, some days it's less, and that's okay. Some days you know you just want to roll out of bed and go to class, and other days you want to dress it up a bit. You're comfortable either way!
2. On those 5 minute days, you accept your appearance as it is.
3. And on the days you work really hard on your appearance, you feel really good about the effort you made.
4. You like to wear makeup on most days, and when you do, you keep it to a fairly simple mascara/eyeliner/foundation routine.
You like to stick to the tried and true basics because the thought of messing with things like contouring gives you hives, and you feel like a little kid playing with your mom's makeup for the first time.
5. Some days you're perfectly happy with you hair in a ponytail or messy bun...
And other days, you really feel like doing your hair!
On those days, shout out to your trusty straightener/curling iron for never letting you down!
6. You love your go-to leggings/sweatshirt/t-shirt outfit.
It's a look you've feel super comfortable in, and have perfected for most class days, and ESPECIALLY for finals
7. However, some days you love to dress up and pick fun and cute outfits!
8. You generally enjoy shopping because it's easy to find things that fit both types of your style!
Having such a flexible style is great for shopping, and terrible for your bank account. Walking into Target is game over for your wallet.
9. You usually feel most comfortable in flat shoes...
But you can rock a pair of heels like a runway model if you need to!
10. At the end of the day, you know that what's important about how your personal appearance is that YOUR opinion is the only one that counts!
You don't need to adhere to anyone's standards but your own, and you've learned to feel comfortable in your own skin, and that's what truly counts!
It doesn't matter if you love to spend hours on your hair and makeup or no time at all--if you feel beautiful for you, that's what truly matters!
