From your excessive tour T-shirt collection to your phone's photo library filled to the brim with loud, shaky concert videos, it is clear that attending concerts has become one of your favorite (and most expensive) hobbies; however, paying for the ticket is not the only struggle that coincides with concert-going. Whether you are attending a local concert or a full-blown festival like Lollapalooza, almost every seasoned concert enthusiast has experienced at least one of these struggles.
1. The ticket-buying process is a challenge in itself.
When it comes to tickets, there are so many options; do you buy from the venue itself, or login to one of those websites you are considered a "regular" at? And more importantly, are you team Vividseats or Ticketmaster? Choose wisely.
2. Listening to the band/artist nonstop from the second you purchase tickets to when you arrive at your seat.
After a week of driving your friends post-purchase, they know what to expect the second you reach for the aux chord. They also know there is no point in asking you to change the music, because you have limited time to memorize the lyrics to the band’s entire setlist.3. You spend up until the last minute trying to put together the perfect outfit.
Whether you are seeing Beyoncé, Luke Bryan, or even The Kooks, you only get one shot at flawless concert attire. Although you’ve raided the racks of your favorite stores in search of the perfect outfit, you still wind up second-guessing your look minutes before you walk out the door.
4. Lawn seats do not work out as well as you anticipated.
Lawn seats are way cheaper, so at the time you purchase the tickets, you think you are saving your wallet the casualty. However, the second the dozens of nearby fans approach your lawn blanket in the hopes of getting a better view, you lose any preconceived notion that you would have personal space at the concert.
5. You can’t. Stop. Snapping.
You walk into the concert telling yourself you are going to allow only a handful of videos to make an appearance on your “story,” but by the end of the night, you have an embarrassingly large amount. Hey, but if you didn’t Snap, did it really happen?
6. You have at least one encounter with an obnoxious drunk fan.
You try to tell the Bud Light-holding blonde that she is all up in your grill, yelling and causing a scene, but she can’t hear you over the thumping bass. At least you can give her the stink eye for the rest of the concert.
7. Your ears are ringing post-concert for the next 24 hours.
You constantly end up near a loudspeaker, yet still forget to bring earplugs every time.
8. A member of the band briefly makes an appearance in the audience, but he/she is slightly out of reach.
You also get mauled in the process of trying to get closer to the celeb.
9. You’ve perfected the high-pitched fangirl shrill.
To the dismay of your friends, of course, who have to hear it every five seconds.
10. Your friends tell you to stop spending so much money on concerts.
Although it may be one of the more expensive hobbies, concert-going is also one of the best. How many people can say they've seen their favorite artists live?
11. You just left the concert venue, but you’re already thinking about the next concert you want to go to.
There are just so…many…concerts! Who needs college savings anyway?Despite the lack of personal space and the occasional drunk fans, there's something about hearing your favorite bands live and feeling the camaraderie between fans and that keeps you coming back for more. Merry concert season, fellow music junkies!
