Everyone loves a good book. However, it is the bookworms who experience most of these struggles. My fellow book lovers have definitely faced most (if not all) of these struggles at one point or another.
1. You'd rather be reading.
2. You are more interested in the story line than everyday life.
Of course, a story about a princess fighting off a dragon or a great love story is more interesting than the mundane ordinary life you live every day. That is the point. However, I would much rather lay on the couch all day finding out how a fictional character is going to save a fictional world than run to the bank or pick up groceries. Not very responsible but hey, it happens.3. You get funny looks when you pull an 800-page novel out of your bag.

No matter where you are, you will get looks. No one gets funny looks when they're playing Temple Run. Life just isn't fair sometimes.
4. Book hangovers are real.
When your entire life is centered around a storyline, whether its a short book or a long series, you will feel sad when it ends. You will think about the characters constantly and wonder how they are doing. I tend to mope around for a day or two. (Sometimes I consider writing a letter to the author demanding another book.) Life will eventually move on, but it will stink for a little bit.
5. Waiting for the next book to be released is absolute torture.
You know the feeling. You finish a great book but it is left on a giant cliffhanger, but the next book in the series won't be released for another 18 months. I know the pain and frustration all too well. Know that you are not alone in this. (And there is probably a Tumblr family that you can confide in until the release.)
6. The movie will never live up to the book.![]()
Don't get me wrong, there are several movies that have lived up very close to their novel counterpart. However, the movie you create in your head will always be the best. Characters are rarely exactly as you imagined and several important scenes are cut for "time purposes." This is unforgivable (but we will still what them anyway.)
7.There is no such thing as a comfortable reading position.
Every single way you try to sit or lay, it will always be vaguely uncomfortable. You will probably end up in some kind of weird position that hurts your neck and left elbow after 5 minutes, but the book will be too good to really even mind it that much.
8. There are not enough bookshelves in the world.![]()
After filling up 3 bookshelves will all of your beautiful babies, you will most likely end up having to stack books in the back of your closet or in boxes in your basement. You will consider sacrificing your bed so your books can have the storage they deserve. (Don't actually do this.)
9. Books are expensive.
Why are they so expensive? And why am I always so willing to spend $30 on a hardback that I may only read once or twice? (Bookworms are actually crazy.)
10. Your love life will NEVER be as good as the ones in novels.
Accept this. Now I'm not saying to settle. Make sure your partner respects you and loves you and all that, but you will probably never have a John Green level romance. Actually, you know what? You might. Hold out for that kind of love. Because that is the kind of love that has filled our hearts and minds since we picked up our first book.
Now that we can all see that being a bookworm is hard, let's take a minute to appreciate the magical world of literature. It can transfer you into an entirely different realm full of magic and love and friendship. It can bring you all the things you are missing in your own life. It can bring you anything you could ever imagine. Reading is amazing. I suggest you make yourself into a bookworm so you can feel our struggles (and our triumphs).
