But, mornings are hard. That's what you're thinking, right? The answer is yes but I have good news... they don't have to be hard. In fact, they can be the deciding factor as to just how good or bad your day is, how much energy you have and even how much less stress you carry around with you throughout the day. I'm, personally, not a morning person. I'm currently on a mission to change that, though. I thought you who have been contemplating doing the same would enjoy this 10 step plan to owning your day!

1. Get more sleep.

No, this doesn't actually mean to sleep more. This means to do your best to achieve a set amount of sleep each night that works for you and your body (i.e. 7.5 - 8.5 hrs a night).

2. No electronics at bedtime.

Put the phone's away BEFORE you hit the hay. Your eyes spend enough time staring at bright screens throughout the other 18 or so hours a day.

3. Actually, go to sleep when you're tired.

Don't stay up until you can't keep your eyes open- that doesn't do you any good.

4.Create a healthy bedtime routine.

Unplug. Read a good book. Spend time reflecting on achievements and goals.

5. STOP hitting that snooze button.

Just don't do it.

6. Get up and kickin' first thing.

Scroll through Insta on your lunch break.

7. Get up at a set time every day.

When do you need to be up for class or work? Get up an hour earlier.

8. Get your daily exercise in during the early hours of the day.

You'll feel refreshed, accomplished, healthier, more energetic and overall more happy throughout your day.

9. Soak in all the Vitamin D you can.

Go outside. Open your curtains. Soak up those rays- it's good for you and you'll enjoy it.

10. Always have something to look forward to.

You always work better if you have something to look forward to, right? Plan a date with friends/your SO for the end of the week, plan to read a book or watch your favorite show after class/work, plan for your favorite meal the next day, etc. The only thing about planning something to look forward to is you have to actually follow through and reward yourself.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
