Most college students spend their summer working as an unpaid intern hoping to earn an excellent letter of recommendation in August. Going to work every morning is hard enough, yet not getting paid makes the struggle even more real. Here's a step by step guide to surviving your life as an unpaid intern!

Step 1: Force self to get up and look professional.

Step 2: Happy dance for coffee.

Step 3: Walk into supervisor's office to get today's assignments.

Step 4: Suffer through assignments to try to avoid looking helpless.

Step 5: Lunch.

Step 6: Make coffees two, three, four, five...

Step 7: Report to supervisor how much work you've accomplished.

Step 8: Realize it's 5 p.m. and you're done for the day.

Step 9: Change into shorts and a T-shirt.

Step 10: Nap.

Being an unpaid intern is rewarding, frustrating, and exhausting all at the same time. While it sucks that you're not getting paid, it's a rite of passage to becoming a successful working professional who can hire their own unpaid interns.
