The time is coming when you are anxiously waiting move in day at school. You have waited months for the day to come. You are excited to start a new chapter of college, be challenged by your classes, be away from the family for a little while, and spend time with your friends whom you probably have not seen as much as you would have liked all summer. But there is one thing you are most excited for: being reunited with your best friend! Unfortunately, being reunited is not a simple process; there happen to be quite a few steps.
1. You move out and the countdown begins.
Once you and your best friend are split up, for what seems like it will be forever, you figure out how many days until move in. The menacing number is terrifying and breaks your heart.
2. You have been separated for a couple weeks and you have no idea how you will last.
You have begun to sulk around the house and send hundreds of "I miss you" texts.
3. You are both quite busy, yet still find time to talk to each other.
With the family trips, work, hanging out with other friends, and sleeping, it can be hard to find time to talk to each other. But each text, or even better a phone call, brightens your day and makes your more excited to see your best friend!
4. You move in in a couple of weeks and now you can't contain your excitement.
You message each other all the time to declare your excitement (insert heart emojis and lovey-dovey gifs here). It is practically oozing out.
5. You probably will talk about your best friend excessively.

You family, friends, and coworkers all know who (insert your best friend's name here) is because you will not shut up about how much you love them, how much you miss them, how excited you are to see them, or what you will do once you are together. Trust me, they are annoyed.
6. The ride to campus is unbearable and you cannot stop thinking about your best friend.
The phrase, "You have ants in your pants" is a real thing. You can't help but stop moving; the excitement is overwhelming and making you burst at the seams.
7. You pull up to campus and you are searching far and wide for some sign that your bestie has arrived.
Every car looks like theirs. Every parent looks like theirs. Every person resembles them.
8. You unpack and wait for your parents to leave.
As you throw all of your crap into your room and you listen to the sentiments of your parents, you can't stop thinking about where your best friend is. As soon as your parents leave, you are calling up your bestie and set up a place to meet.
9. The search for them on a campus full of people continues.
Once again you are going through the scanning process. Everyone looks like your best friend. You get to the meet up spot and scan so hard your eyes hurt and your heart is pounding.
10. You are finally reunited with your best friend!!!
Your eyes meet and the smiles spread across your faces. A squeal and maybe some tears are let out as you make your way over to them. Once again, your souls are together.
Muhammad Ali sums up friendship pretty perfectly:
Friendship is the hardest thing in the world to explain. It's not something you learn in school. But if you haven't learned the meaning of friendship, you really haven't learned anything.
Good friends are the core of a great college experience. Without them, what's the point?
