10 Staples Of A Minimalist Wardrobe

1. Classic black and white tee

This goes without saying but any wardrobe needs the classic black and white t-shirts. Both of these pieces make easy no-brainers when you’re pinched for time but still want something that looks put together. My pick? Zara’s basic t-shirt, available in both black and white.

2. Black skinny jeans

This is another obvious staple to a minimalist wardrobe. In my 21 years on Earth I have never once seen a pair of black skinnys make anyone look bad, and if it’s not broken, don’t fix it. These are classic, slimming and a great all-around go-to for comfort. Sure they aren’t your favorite post-work sweats, but they sure beat your stiff business wear. My absolute favorite brand is GAP, and I've never had a pair of jeans fit me better than the 1969 resolution black high rise true skinny jeans.

3. The massive black sweater

This is one that I’ve included because it’s a personal favorite of mine. The oversized black sweater is a security blanket. When I pair this with leggings, my favorite boots and a scarf I feel pretty unstoppable, because why wouldn’t you want to feel cozy and chic all at once? This one is from Madewell, one of my all time favorite companies and it's incredible.

4. Black boots

Whether you prefer riding boots or Chelseas, a good black boot is essential to any complete wardrobe. My new favorites are Forever 21. I’ve never had a good experience with their shoes, but after consulting with a friend who had given these a go, I decided I needed them. I was forced into buying half a size smaller than I usually would, but after some dedicated stretching time they fit perfectly and I don’t regret this purchase for a second.

5. Statement flats

If you’re anything like me and find yourself wearing almost all black, you’re going to need to incorporate some color. One way to do this is by adding that pop of color via some fun shoes. My favorite are these red flats that I had bought from Aldo years ago. Not only do I love the pointed toe, but these are so easy to dress up too.

6. The versatile black bag

You need a black bag, period. Whether you’re traveling or just doing errands this is something that’s useful to have in your closet. A favorite new find of mine is the Sole Society Mel Vegan Tote. It’s so simple and can carry everything I possibly need, I’ve absolutely fallen in love.

7. The classic denim button down

I am a big fan of this one. A denim button down is effortless while allowing for a comfortable and breezy feeling. I searched far and wide for a denim shirt that I really loved and settled on this one from Lucky Brand.

8. The flowy “safe” black shirt

A good black shirt can go a long way. I like my bigger black shirts fully equipped with sleeves and a small (or deep) v-neck. This is another one of my safety items, and if I’m going on a trip I never leave home without it. My favorite is this one from Zara.

9. Go-to heels

Whenever I have somewhere formal to go I hate dealing with the anxiety that comes with it. This anxiety was more or less eliminated when I found these heels from Ann Taylor. Being that I wear only neutrals and black, this was a perfect find: simple yet stylish and I never have to think twice!

10. The little black dress

Saving the best for last. The little black dress is another “duh” addition to this list but one that I can’t stress enough. Just like your go-to heels, the perfect black dress can become a stress free option for any occasion. One of my favorite little black dresses is this skater dress I got from H&M years ago. I can dress it up or down and no matter what it’s something I’m always comfortable in!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
