In your college career, you will experience a semester unlike any other. It may be because you’re taking an extra class or maybe just an extra difficult one. Whatever the case, these 10 stages are what any college student anticipating a demanding semester will understand:
1. Enthusiasm!
You know what? I can handle this! I got some great courses, and I’m definitely going to the library every day. If I budget my time, I can absolutely get straight As!
2. Settling
Ok…maybe Dean’s List is a little more realistic. Maybe I’ll get a tutor? And I don't have to go out as much.
3. Motivation
If I get ahead of my homework and finish my take home quiz early, then I can watch an extra episode of One Tree Hill on Netflix.
4. Panic
Why did I do this to myself??? Is it too late to drop? How can the professor expect us to do this much work?
5. False Hope
Maybe I’m freaking out over nothing. I can definitely handle this! It’s only a little extra work. I just need to be disciplined and focus.
6. Procrastination
….But look at this video I just found.
7. Reasoning
Ok, ok. Focus! I just need to read a few more chapters and do that online assignment.
8. Sleep-deprivation
How is it 3am?? It was just midnight!
9. WINE!
This is the only friend I need.
10. Surrender
I did my best, and I’m ok with that. Hopefully I just get a good grade!
