Ever since I was a little girl I have loved Disney. Unfortunately, I never made it to Florida until I was already in college but during the summer of 2015, I finally made it to Disney World for the first time. I got to meet my favorite princess, Ariel and explore the parks with one of my best friends. In high school, I found out about the Disney College Program and knew immediately that I wanted to apply one day.
Currently, in my junior year of college, I finally had the opportunity to apply for the program. The application process was definitely an interesting one and all of the stages have you feeling some type of way.
Here are the stages of applying for the Disney College Program:
1. Filling out the initial application
The general application makes you nervous because it is the first step towards making your dreams come true! You find yourself making sure each part of the application is perfect.
2. Getting the e-mail to complete the web interview
You can't help but be thrilled that you have moved onto the next step in the application process. You immediately open up your computer to complete the web-based interview.
3. Getting a phone interview
Do a little dance! You're one step closer to making magic!
4. Scheduling the phone interview
You want to do it as soon as possible, but you're also crazy nervous.
5. The anticipation of the interview
You are so nervous and excited you don't know what to do with yourself. You fill eight pages with notes about the roles you want and hope you remember how to speak when you get the call originating from Lake Buena Vista, FL.
6. Waiting for your acceptance letter
The anticipation just about kills you. Depending on when you had your phone interview, you could be waiting for upwards of three months.
7. Getting the "Congratulations!" email
After weeks without hearing as much as a word, you get an email with the first line reading, "Congratulations!" If you're like me you were excited, but almost in a state of shock for the most part.
8. To accept or decline
You have one week to decide whether or not to uproot your current life and move to Florida for five months. This big of a decision can be quite daunting especially if you are in your second to last year in college.
9. Reading everything you can about the DCP
After accepting the offer, you can't help but research everything you can about the DCP. Bucket lists, things to know, packing lists, etc... The internet is a beautiful thing.
10. Telling people, "I'm going to Disney World!"
Now that everything is in place and your dreams are about to come true, you can finally tell the world that you are headed for the happiest place on earth.
