The 10 Stages Of Crafting As Told By A Sorority Girl
Sorority Sugar

Let's face it: When you think of a sorority, the first thought people usually have is a sorority girl's love for crafting. The glitter, the canvases, the wine glasses, I get it. Been there, done that, conquered getting all of the glitter out of my freshman room carpet , no biggie. As a Pinterest junkie, I have to admit that I do have all of my future little's, littlest's, grandlittle's and fittle's crafts planned out. My big's crafts were planned before I even got my bid.

We craft because we care. When you join a Greek organization, you are not joining just to help out during Greek Week because you can throw a mean curve ball; you join for lifelong sisters, friends and your future bridesmaids. You join something bigger than yourself. Crafting, on the other hand, is just a plus of joining an organization. And a little surprise for you all, not all sorority girls love crafting *GASP.*

So when we do craft - which actually is not as often as one would think - is it really all the glitter and the occasional (lol) sip of wine? Absolutely not. It is truly a game of some tears, some defeat and the final "wow, I might keep this for myself."

1. The Pinterest Board.

"OMG my *insert person* would just die if I made this for her." As a Pinterest whore, I have crafts already thought out for my G-Little. My little's crafts were planned before I even crossed. Pinterest is truly a God-sent gift from the heavens above for all things srat.

2. That (first, because you know you will forget something) Michael's Trip.

Holy sh*t. The letters, the canvases, the mod-podge, oh my! It's crazy, actually. You walk into basically the heaven for all crafters with a plan to just pick up a few things and you walk through the aisles (more than one time just in case) literally just picking up anything and everything because you "need" it.

3. "I spent HOW much money?!"

So now you're standing on line, all happy because not only did you get nine canvases but you also got this cute little crate to decorate and put all of your crafts in! The cashier looks at you in horror because of all the bags you're about to use. Scan after scan, you're watching the price increase at a rate you're really not too fond of, all the while repeatedly saying, "Oh, but I really need this." Finally, the last item scans and the cashier tells you the ungodly number over $200 and you struggle to hand her your debit card.

4. Deciding What To Do First.

How much money you spent has no meaning to you anymore because now you're standing over all of the things you bought deciding what to do. Ugh, her pin box, letters, a lovely canvas with her nickname? The possibilities are endless.

5. "Oh, this is actually really nice."

So chances are, it won't look exactly like it did on Pinterest as crafty and sratty as you claim to be. And that's okay. You got this and your little, littlest, or g-little will love it anyway because it came from you.

6. The Second Michael's Trip.

You knew you were going to forget something. By now, you know exactly where the ribbon is, so you walk over there -- trying not to look down the other aisles. You wave to the employees because they know you by name now. You can truly be a tour guide for Michael's locations all around the state.

7. My Hand Is Actually Stuck To This Canvas.

Turns out mod-podge and skin don't work out too well together.

8. The Defeat.

So like, do I really have to make this? I think my little can live without a fourth canvas.

9. The Second Wind.

Crafts are due tomorrow. It is technically today because it's 3 a.m. There's paint all over your body, glitter in your hair, you can't have a normal conversation without thinking about how the canvases are drying. You're going insane, but it's okay. You grab another picture frame and get going.

10. DONE.

You are amazing. These crafts look great. You won't have to look at another Robin's Egg Blue Paint for months. Life is good, pass the wine.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
