Bad days: they're bound to happen, but when they do, make sure you have your music playlist handy. Listening to music always helps me to feel better when I'm down. While I could name many more, here are some songs I find myself playing on repeat when I'm having a bad day.
1. "Bad Day" by Daniel Powter
This signature staple never fails to sum up how you feel when you're having a bad day. Growing up, I loved hearing this song whenever it came on the radio. It always made me feel a bit better, even if I wasn't sad.
2. "Welcome to My Life" by Simple Plan
Simple Plan, being the symbol of teen angst, has many songs relating to the sadness teenagers feel. "Welcome to My Life" is probably the most common song, as the band laments about how people can feel that no one understands the pain they're experiencing.
3. "Everybody Hurts" by R.E.M
R.E.M.'s infamous song "Everybody Hurts" says that everyone gets sad and that it's all right to be upset from time to time.
4. "The Middle" by Jimmy Eat World
On a more positive note, this song reminds everyone that things will get better with time. You'll have to experience some pain for the time being before things turn around and begin to work in your favor.
5. "Move Along" by All-American Rejects
Another optimistic song that inspires listeners to keep pushing forward, despite obstacles in your life. Things will get better if you give them a chance to.
6. "Mr. Brightside" by The Killers
"Mr. Brightside" is the song to listen to when you're trying to be optimistic about a difficult situation that has left you angry and upset. It's for when you're attempting to look on the bright side of things, even if it's not so easy.
7. "Therapy" by All Time Low
If you're ever feeling down on yourself and think you need help, "Therapy" is the song for you. The song is saying that sometimes you just need a hug and to be told that everything is OK when people are telling you you need therapy.
8. "Happy Ending" by Avril Lavigne
Don't let the title fool you, there is not a happy ending for Avril in her song, "Happy Ending." This realistic song shows us how we may not always get our happy endings in life. It's OK to lose hope from time to time, but don't lose it for good.
9. "Hum Hallelujah" by Fall Out Boy
Based off of "Hallelujah" by Leonard Cohen, this song is probably the darkest of the list. Despite the meaning behind it, the song always manages to ease my sadness and bring me to a sense of peace.
10. "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" by Green Day
This Green Day song encompasses the feeling of loneliness we all find ourselves experiencing at one point or another. Even though it can feel like it, you're never alone.
