10 Songs To Help Get You Out Of A Funk
Pyschologies

Let’s admit it, we’re not always at our best. We get angry, upset, disappointed, depressed. The littlest things can tip our day from good to bad, whether it was missing your bus or getting a bad grade. Our mood can go from happy to sad in half a second, but getting back to happy takes work sometimes. So, that’s where this playlist comes. This is a compilation of songs that can lighten any bad mood. Some are happy and upbeat, some are sad. Hey, sometimes making yourself a little more sad gets it out of your system and you can get back to being happy. There’s a little something for everyone in this list, so I hope you find a few that work for you!

1. Uptown Funk- Mark Ronson

This one comes as no surprise. It is infectiously upbeat and catchy. If you don’t already know the lyrics to this song, you pretty much only need to listen to it once to get them. This song is a great one to listen to with friends, too. So, if the mood is lacking at all this song will bring it back up for sure.

2. She will be Loved- Maroon 5

Maroon 5 has a ton of feel good hits, but this one has a certain nostalgia tied to it. It’s a classic and it is the perfect song to blast in the car and belt your heart out.

3. Jesse’s Girl- Rick Springfield

Another classic that most people seem to know. It's songs like this and "Stacy’s Mom" that are songs that seem to transport you to a different time and they take your mind off anything that is bugging you.

4. Cheerleader- Omi

This song has such a strong link to summer, hanging out with all your friends and just soaking it all in. It’s a cute song with a light-hearted message. You can’t go wrong with something like this to help get you out of your darkest of days.

5. Cruise- Florida Georgia Line

For all my country lovers out there, this is a pretty obvious choice. Rolling down all the windows in your car when you are driving with this song blasting from your radio, there’s nothing like it. Even if you aren’t the biggest fan of country, this song is still pretty fantastic.

6. Here comes the Sun- The Beatles

This song and many others by the Beatles are the epitomes of an "oldie but a goodie." It’s pretty laid back and makes you think back to times that were simpler and happier.

7. We Can’t Stop- Miley Cyrus

This song is a great one to listen to if you are looking to boost your self-confidence. As you may already know, it promotes people being able to do whatever they want, whenever they want to. We all need a little bit of that in our lives, am I right?

8. Born this Way- Lady Gaga

Basically, this is an anthem for people who feel beaten down by society or those who feel like they are not accepted for who they are. This song serves as a middle finger to those who judge. Plus, a little girl power doesn’t hurt.

9. 100 Years- Five for Fighting

This song, in particular, is the kind that makes you ugly cry but it makes you feel so much better afterward. It talks about growing old and reminiscing on old memories, and it will hit you in the feels every single time. After you think about all the memories that you miss dearly, you start to think of things that make you smile from ear to ear. That is what will turn absolutely any bad mood into a good.

10. Don’t Stop Believing- Journey

Yet another obvious feel good song. Everyone knows the words to this song, and if they don’t you need to play it for them. It’s a song that you should be able to turn on at any point in the day and sing as loud as you can with all of your friends.

I hope you found one of these helpful because nothing is worse than getting stuck in a funk.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
