The 90's: they were the best time of times, they were the....... yup, still the best of times. Everyone knows, especially us 90's baby, that everything that is good in this world probably came from or started in the 1990's. In my opinion, music is probably at the top of that list of great things. Here's a list of 13 rock (and punk-rock) songs that will bring back all the feels from the best decade ever.
1. "Wonderwall" by Oasis
This song, off the English rock bands second album (What's The Story) Morning Glory?, was released in 1995 and won 2 Grammy's that year.
"Because maybe, You're gonna be the one that saves me, And after all, You're my wonderwall"
2. "All The Small Things" by Blink -182
In 1999 Blink- 182 released their third album, Enema of the State, with this song as their second single off the album. It went on to win an MTV Music Award.
"Say it ain't so, I will not go, Turn the lights off, Carry me home"
3. "Name" by Goo Goo Dolls
The band from Buffalo, NY debuted the album A Boy Named Goo Goo in 1995 and Name became known as their first hit.
"And scars are souvenirs you never lose, The past is never far , Did you lose yourself somewhere out there, Did you get to be a star?"
4. "Semi- Charmed Life" by Third Eye Blind
This song was the lead single off their self-titled first album, Third Eye Blind, from 1997.
"And I make her smile, like a drug for you, Do ever what you wanna do, coming over you, Keep on smiling, what we go through, One stop to the rhythm that divides you"
5. "Better Man" by Pearl Jam
In 1994 Pearl Jam released this song from their album Vitalogy and it spent 8 weeks at #1 on the Billboard Rock Chart.
"She lies and says she's in love with him, can't find a better man, She dreams in color, she dreams in red, can't find a better man"
6. "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)" by Green Day
This song, from the album Nimrod, was released in 1997 and won an MTV Music Award.
"It's something unpredictable, but in the end is right, I hope you had the time of your life."
7. "Under the Bridge" by Red Hot Chili Peppers
RHCP, a band from LA, released this song off the album Blood Sugar Sex Magik in 1991.
"I don't ever want to feel, Like I did that day, Take me to the place I love, Take me all the way"
8. "Two Princes" by Spin Doctors
In 1991 the album Pocket Full of Kryptonite produced this (controversial) hit single; the only one the band would ever have.
"Marry him or marry me, I'm the one that loves you baby can't you see?"
9. "Dammit (Growing Up)" by Blink- 182
The band's first hit single was released in 1997 off of the album Dude Ranch. The music video has been viewed over 32 million times on YouTube since being uploaded to the site in 2009.
"But everybody's gone, And I've been here for too long, To face this on my own, Well I guess this is growing up"
10. "Say It Ain't So" by Weezer
This band from LA has had multiple hit singles, but this particular song from 1994 was ranked #72 on "The Greatest Guitar Songs of All Time".
"Say it ain't so, Your drug is a heart breaker, Say it ain't so, My love is a life taker"
11. "Santeria" by Sublime
In 1996 Sublime released their debut self- titled album, Sublime, and in 1997 Santeria was released as a single off of the album. It is considered to be one of the bands two signature songs.
"I ain't got no Santeria, I ain't got no crystal ball, I had a million dollars but I'd, I'd spend it all"
12. "Learn To Fly" by Foo Fighters
In 1999 Dave Grohl and his band released their album There Is Nothing Left To Lose, and off that album came this Grammy- winning song.
"I'm looking for a complication, Looking 'cause I'm tired of trying, Make my way back home, When I learn to fly"
13. "Push" by Matchbox Twenty
Matchbox Twenty debuted their first album in 1996 and this was the second single released from it, not hitting the charts until 1997.
"I wanna push you around, Well I will, well I will, I wanna push you down, Well I will, well I will, I wanna take you for granted"
Of course these aren't all the best songs from the 90's, but they are enough to make you want to listen to more.
