It first begins when they enter the world. It's like a bright and shiny new toy. Younger siblings are the new toy and you're old news. Being the oldest child in the family definitely has its perks and its flaws. If you are the oldest child in your own family, then you will be able to relate to this list!
1. You were basically the "guinea pig" child.
You had to be in your bed by 8:30. No earlier, no later. You HAD to take a shower at 7 PM. By the time your other siblings came around, there were no strict rules at all because they tested everything on you. Trial and error, people. Trial and error.
2. You always have to set an example.
God-forbid your younger siblings follow in your path if you go off-track.
3. You are very, very bossy.
It's not your fault that you were the first child born. Therefore, you have all the authority in the world to boss around your younger siblings. Am I right, or am I right?
4. Your younger siblings copy almost every little thing you do.
From your outfits to the way you talk, and almost anything else you can think of, your younger sibling will most likely copy you. "Take it as a compliment..they want to be like you." Okay, well, it's just annoying.
5. When it comes to fights, you always get in trouble because "you're older and you're supposed to know better."
Seriously. So totally over it.
6. You can make your siblings believe pretty much anything you say.
You have so much fun teasing your younger siblings and making up ridiculous stories just for them to go "Really? No way!" It gave you a sense of pride and accomplishment by helping out the needy youth.
7. You are treated like a free, at home, personal tutor.

8. Once you turn 16 and get your drivers license, you become your younger sibling's personal driver.
Your parents are more excited than you are because you can finally drive yourself everywhere...oh, and you can drive your younger siblings everywhere, too.
9. You are also a free babysitter.
There's also no need to pay a babysitter when you have an older child! It's something you, as the oldest sibling, most definitely did NOT sign up for.
10. You never get away with anything, but that's not the case with your younger sibling.
It seems like "the rules" don't even apply anymore, which is totally not fair to you. Being the oldest just sucks.
