To the outside Yankee world, the south is littered with beer, overalls, open land and pickup trucks. People define this region of the United States as an area composed of small towns, humid weather, and an abundance of farmhouses boasting massive front porches. Well guess what? These stereotypes are completely wrong. Just kidding. They could not be more true, and the residents of the south could not be more proud. Here are a few signs that *Jeff Foxworthy voice* you might be from the south...
1. You know with all your heart that Oklahoma and Texas are "in the West" and not considered Southern.
So what if they're below the Mason-Dixon? That ain't what my momma taught me.
2. Speaking of geography, you've probably been to Myrtle Beach.
The Las Vegas of the East Coast.
3. You go to bonfires almost as much as you go to church.
What else are you supposed to do when your town doesn't have a movie theater? Or a mall...or an interstate...or a night club...you get it.
4. But when you run out of wood for the fire, you move the party to the Walmart parking lot.
"At the parkin' lot partayyyy"- Lee Brice (If you have not heard this song you are a phony southerner- just saying).
5. And since we're talking about music, you know you're from the South if you cried when Merle Haggard died.
We love our country music. I'm talking like REAL music, though. Forget that Luke Bryan crap.
6. You, and everyone around you FREAKS OUT when the weatherman calls for an inch of SNOW...
Hurry, grab the beer and Cheetos! We may not make it out alive!
7. But on the bright side, school is cancelled at the drop of a hat.
"Davidson County Schools: Closed due to cold weather."
8. You know that sometimes it's too hot for the winter and too cold for the summer.
And humid...
9. Speaking of summer, your time out of school more than likely consists of fishing, and driving around.
Yes, we really do just drive around for fun. And if you happen to find yourself at the mudpit, that's OK too.
10. You know the south is your home and you wouldn't trade it for anything.
"This is where I was born and this is where I'll die..."
