10 Signs You're An English Major

1. You own a blog

You may have created it your freshman year. While it was once a collection of moonrises and bad poetry, it has now graduated to decent poetry and pictures of your dog.

2. You wished you liked Shakespeare

You’ve tried to get into Shakespeare. It’s everywhere. It’s referenced at least once a class. But for some reason-it’s just so hard.

3. You're addicted to coffee

Writers like coffee: it keeps us going. It’s the thing that motivates us to keep going when we’re tired of re-writing the same sentence over and over again.

4. Essays>Exams

Yes please. Writing a 10-page paper is better than studying for a final exam.

5. You don't know what you're doing with your life

A teacher? Journalist? Dog-walker who writes poetry? There are so many options.

6. You take everything in

The conversations on a train, coffee spills, the orange-hue of the moon.

7. You were semi-emo once

And by emo, I mean you loved Panic! At the Disco and wore purple eyeliner.

8. You love lyrics

You’re always listening to songs and trying to decode its meaning.

9. You notice grammar errors

You don’t want to be that person, but something about the wrong use of “then,” makes you hold your breath.

10. You write for the Odyssey

This is the best way to get your creative thoughts a public audience.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
