PSL is in full swing.

2. There's always that one really "cold" day that calls for you to break out your favorite sweater or pair of boots.

It's so fluffy!!

3. In order to fully embrace fall, you will go out of your way to convince yourself that it is really the holiday season...despite it being 20 degrees warmer.

Decorations are key.

4. You're the master of pairing a fall scarf with a pair of shorts and making it look somewhat reasonable.

This is both necessary and conventional, I promise.

5. When you went trick or treating as a kid, people could actually tell what your costume was, because you didn't have to wear a puffy jacket on top like the kids up north.

6. When the first (and most likely only) big, cold front comes, you go shopping for clothes you probably won't even need to use until the next cold front comes the following year.

7. You check your weather app to find any days with an average below 70 when planning fall functions and activities.

(Even though this means there will be about 80% humidity).

9. You can NEVER dress right for the entire day, so outfit changes are both welcomed and necessary.

10. This is all you really know and although it might be slightly different, it's your favorite type of "fall" season.

Thank goodness for seasonal outdoor "ice" skating rinks and the occasional cold front. This one's for you!

A Tribute To The Lonely Hispanic

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, I’d like to share a few thoughts about being Hispanic in a country where it’s hard to be Hispanic.

2656
Veronika Maldonado

Just a little background information; my dad was born in Mexico, came to the U.S. as a newborn and became a citizen when he was 25 years old. My mom was born and raised in the U.S. as were my grandparents and great grandparents, but my great-great grandparents did migrate here from Mexico. I am proud to classify myself as Hispanic but there are times when I feel like I’m living a double life and I don’t fit into either one.

An Atlanta Weekend

A New Yorker's quick weekend in Atlanta.

2834
JMackeazy

On a weekend visit to Atlanta, I had to adjust to people being personable and congenial to me. Although I had lived in the South before, I had to get reacquainted with southern hospitality due to visiting from Brooklyn. Atlanta Uber drivers are very down to earth, offer snacks, and provide great genuine conversations. The opposite is the lay of the land from Brooklyn Uber drivers. The southern hospitality is provided not only from the Uber drivers, but restaurant servers, cashiers, or random people giving suggestions. Brooklyn is a dope and unique place to live, but short on the warmth more often than not.
