1. The heat is really 20 degrees hotter.
In the heart of Tampa, the trees are far and in between. The most you see in downtown, south Tampa, or even the outskirts are just palm trees. Talk about a lack of shade. On top of no trees, we also have asphalt on every street and every parking lot. This raises the temperature by 10 of those degrees really.
2. So many festivals and events
As a Tampa resident, trust me when I tell you that there is a festival for everything. Football season? Ha, tail gating. St. Patties? A green river. Wine tasting, food extravaganza, concerts, and so many more. It is the life of the party.
3. The traffic.
This traffic is not like anywhere I have ever lived before. Rush hour traffic, lunch rush traffic, football traffic, storm traffic. All of the cars are bumper to bumper on a daily basis. You might as well seclude yourself from life.
4. USF, everywhere
Community college rep over here, but don't even think about it. USF trumps all and every college nearby. You bring up any other college and suddenly you are surrounded by the vultures. (Not literally.
5. The closeness of everything!
All the shops are within a couple minute drive. I am sure that it seems like this in other towns, but in Tampa it seems all too close. I mean our football stadium is in the middle of town.
6. The plethora of restaurants.
From a person who didn't grow up here, there is such a huge selection of restaurants from Ybor to Carroll-wood. Buffalo Wild Wings, Miller's Ale House, Charley's, etc. The food selection is one of the best things that happens here.
7. Strip clubs and sex shops are on every corner.
This is not an exaggeration either. There is a sex shop on every street and a strip club every couple. The amount of money these places make must be huge because they are packed pretty often also.
8. Malls...so many malls.
Do you want to spend a large amount of money on over priced crap? Go to the mall, we have about 6! Sure, some are cheaper than others but even the cheap ones are expensive.
9. Over 100 nail salons, well maybe.
Some are good, some are bad. All I know is they are all basically priced the same and do the same services. However, there are too many. I don't think one city needs that many nail places. It is a hoarding problem, Tampa.
10. Busch Gardens andAdventure Island.
The most popular amusement parks live right here in Tampa. Do you want to ride scary roller coasters? Busch Gardens is right around the corner. Want to cool off because of this heat? Let's Adventure!
