I used to be confused and discouraged by my experiences with guys. There seemed to be an inevitable pattern in the relationship department over which I had little to no control. I would meet a guy and we would hit it off at first, spend time together, and get closer; but then I would sense that something was missing. For one reason or another, the relationship would end. At the time, I couldn't help but wonder if something was wrong with me. It wasn't until I met a mature, caring guy that I realized that in most cases, the problem had been with the guys I had been involved with - not me. Honestly, a guy that's really worth investing in will be doing things that make him stand out clearly from the rest of the men you talk to. Here are ten of these things:
1. He invites you into his life.
A guy who is truly interested in you will want you to be a part of what he loves to do. You'll sense that you are in no way just a "side project" to him.
2. He is unafraid to share his feelings and intentions.
Many guys avoid the DTR (define the relationship) talk above all else. The last thing they want is to have to commit. When a guy is really into you, this fear of DTR will be pushed aside by their feelings for you. He will probably be the one to initiate the DTR conversation.
3. He's sensitive to how fast or slow you need the relationship to go.
If you're not yet ready to commit fully, he will respond with understanding. He won't get mad or try to pressure you. He realizes that a relationship that is pushed on you is an unsteady one.
4. He can't wait to see you again.
The amount of time you spend with him isn't enough. Each goodbye is reluctant. It won't be long before he asks when he can see you again.
5. His friends and family know about you.
Unless he is in a unique situation, he will have told those close to him about you. Instead of hiding you from them, he will proudly share the things he loves about you.
6. He finds little ways to please you.
You'll notice that he's being attentive to the little things you mention: your likes and dislikes. Most guys would just let these details slip by, but the right guy will be interested in getting to know everything about you. You'll be surprised at how well he listens to your conversation. Then, weeks later he will surprise you by buying something that you mentioned liking or chose an activity he knows you love.
7. He's proud to show his affection for you in public.
Hugs, kisses, holding hands...all he wants to do is show you off. He has nothing to hide from the world.
8. He shares personal things with you.
A man who will open up to you about personal matters is one whom you can connect with on that deeper level. Playful banter is fun, but you should be able to talk about almost anything.
9. He wants to hear your opinion.
Something I've noticed in many guys is their unwillingness to consider any other opinion than their own. The right guy will actually enjoy hearing things from your perspective.
10. He talks about the future and includes you in it.
I'm not saying he needs to talk seriously about you guys getting married. That's a conversation that shouldn't be had until much, much later. But he'll talk about plans you want to make together next month, or for the coming summer. This shows that he sees a future with you.
It's sad to say, but this type of guy is hard to find these days. So if you end up having a guy like this in your life, hold on to him and do your best to make him happy the way he makes you.
