There comes a time when the things of life become too much for us to handle on our own. Whether it’s a situation, frustration, or hurt that’s you’ve been faced with, there truly is one thing that can solve every one of those problems and it’s Jesus. Jesus reminds us in the Bible, multiple times that he will never leave us, and we can always count on Him to bring us strength in our suffering. Here are only ten of those reminders.

  1. Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” John 6:35

Jesus tells us to call on him, and even though sometimes we feel it’s just not that easy, it really is. All good things flow from the breath he gives us. He gives us new breath.

2. Be confident in this; He who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it. Philippians 1:6

I don’t know what you’re faced with, but believe that God will complete what he has started, and he won’t leave you behind to do it.

3. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27

Jesus has given us his peace from the beginning. The only thing we have to do to receive it, is to sit in His presence. We have that peace with us already, we just need to recognize it’s there.

4. Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him. James 1:12

There are many times in the Bible that God declares our suffering will have a purpose, and I believe it too. You don’t go through something for nothing, so hold on, and trust God’s promise.

5. Come to me all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28

This verse doesn’t need much explanation, it’s pretty simple. Cast your cares on the one who cares for you.

6. When you pass through waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. Isaiah 43:2

Always remember God is for you. Anything and everything you go through will come to an ending and you will see the purpose.

7. He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were hushed. Psalm 107:29

Even the wind and waves obey His name, I think you are in good hands.

8. You came to my rescue and brought me out into a beautiful place. Psalm 118:5

God makes all things beautiful in the right time. Trust him.

9. Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord will fulfill his promises to her. Luke 1:45

10. And I will be to her a wall of fire all around, declares the Lord. I will be the glory in her midst. Zechariah 2:5

He’s surrounding you, He always will.

Here’s one more message of hope for you to hear:

"Let God have you, and let God love you- and don’t be surprised if your heart begins to hear music you’ve never heard, and your feet learn to dance as never before.” -Max Lucado

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
