It's easy to start the semester off saying that you are going to get straight A's with that amazing 4.0, go out more with friends, get more sleep, eat well, work out more, call your mom more often, and give work 100%...then reality sets in and your stuck wondering how you ended up crying to yourself in the corner of the library at 4 am and your holding a large to-go order of McDonalds. Life happens and it's definitely not convenient. So here are 10 resources guaranteed to save your life as a college student.

1.Office Hours

The best lifeline for any class is honestly attending office hours. It may seem tedious or difficult, but it proves to your teacher that you really are trying and also solidifies what might have been unclear during class.

2. Peer-Tutor

When that one professor makes no sense, go to another student in the class that you know is acing it OR better yet, go to a student who is paid by the school to tutor.

3. Mentor

If you need to talk out a few ideas or problems having a mentor for life in general is a must for success. The person who asks for updates about your success and goes out of their way to help you is a keeper. An older person/friend = more experience. Trust.

4. Academic Resource Center

Some campuses have a center to help you with academic goals and challenges. From writing essays to extra help on formatting those history notes- these wonderful people have you covered.

5. Online

When all else fails- look online for resources. Sometimes a visual instruction that is on repeat and at your command makes it easier to follow a lesson.

6. Career Center (or Something Similar)

Choosing an internship or future job is terrifying- luckily these individuals are specifically trained to help you succeed.

7. LinkedIn

Connections are a great way to stay in touch and understand how companies flow. Create a profile and search around.

8. Schedule App

Life is crazy- if you're on the go, few things are more helpful than a calendar. There are a variety of schedule apps to choose from that will better tailor your needs.

9. Write It Down-NOW

Writing things down by hand is a proven way to improve the chances you will remember (of course writing it in your schedule app also helps too).

10. Your Friends!

Friends are the best resource a person can have in college. They keep you grounded and accountable even when you don't want to hear it.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
