1. They don’t mind listening to you gossip

Gossiping can be therapeutic and honestly, sometimes you just need to get it off your chest. Of course, it never has to be passed along, but there is nothing wrong with a good gossip sesh every once in a while.

2. They won’t judge you

Honestly, girls are just as gross as guys, I think we’re just better at keeping it hidden. Your friends know how gross you can be, so you can be completely yourself around them. They won’t break up with you for wearing the same shirt two days in a row.

3. They won’t let you leave the house looking ugly

Whether it be an interview or a date, your friends will always make sure that you look your best. They will make sure your makeup was well blended and will tell you the truth if your new dress really isn’t flattering. The “you look great in whatever you have on” line is all fun and games until you realize that you actually look like a whale in heels.

4. You can eat whatever you want in front of them

Although this is something that has never stopped me, some people get extremely self-conscious eating in front of their significant other. When you’re with your friends, it feels like an accomplishment to finish the entire tub of ice cream on your own

5. They make a better date for all events

With one look you can have an entire conversation with your friends about the couple in front of you who is ALL over each other. You can make dull events a little less painful with your friends around because you know that you can always at least make each other laugh.

6. They’ve seen you at your highest and your lowest

Your friends have seen you ugly cry over a hard breakup and celebrate getting a job that you’ve been raving about for months. They feel it all with you and truly just want the best for you. If you’re lucky enough to have friends who have been around for several years, you know this to be true. It’s almost like you can feel their emotions, so it only makes sense that you want the best for them.

7. They are your personal cheerleader

If your friends are anything like mine, that means they will probably encourage you to do anything you think is right. While it is not uncommon for so-called “good ideas” to go wrong, your friends are always there to cheer you back up and help you move on.

8. They encourage you to go out and will probably tag along

Going out while you're in a relationship can be a sticky situation. It’s not that you or your significant other don’t trust one another, but when alcohol is involved, there is no 100% guarantee.

9. They won’t tell you to “calm down”

I’m not sure guys will ever understand that “calm down” is the absolute worst thing that you could ever tell someone to do. Luckily, your friends have been there and understand that nothing good is bound to come out of the dreaded phrase.

10. They will always be there for you

Your friends are undeniably some of the most supportive people in your life and that is why it is so important to surround yourself with good ones. I’ve never had a boyfriend drive to my house at midnight because I was upset, but my friends have done it on countless occasions.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
