Chancelor Bennett, also known as Chance the Rapper has taken modern day music and the media by storm. For those that didn't know about him prior to his albums, they definitely know about him now and it's not just because of his music.

1. His hometown pride

Lil Chano from 79th! Chance comes from the South Side of Chicago and his love and dedication to his city does not go unnoticed. He donated 1 million dollars to public schools in Chicago and not only reps where he's from by wearing it and supporting local business, but he also puts it into his lyrics.

2. His respect for other artists

Chance's relationship with Kanye is just one example of his respect for other artists. He always shows credit where it is due.

3. His refusal to conform to modern day music trends

Chance won't call his music albums. Instead, he refers to them as mixtapes. His mixtapes reflect the root of Hip Hop as well as early Jazz and Gospel music.

4. His unapologetic honesty

Chance is honest in his music, but also on his social media. He's basically as real as they get. He has a kind heart and when he messes up he admits it. In his song "Angels" he exposes that he used to have a Xanax addiction. On Twitter, he also admitted to liking an offensive comment on Instagram and went out of his way to make it right and apologize to everyone.

5. His genuine care for politics

Ken, Chancelor's father worked for Barack Obama while Chance was a kid giving him political influence at a young age. It's clear that he uses this and recognizes important issues. He has spoken out on Saturday Night Live after a tragedy and also participated in campaigns to stop gun violence. He jokes about becoming mayor of Chicago but we all know he should...maybe even president?

6. He's an amazing Dad

In 2015 Chance was blessed with his daughter Kinsley. Although he and the mother aren't together, he loves his daughter unconditionally. On his Instagram, you can find videos and pictures of the two and he isn't afraid to show how much he loves her. Side note: they also wear matching outfits and it's totally adorable.

7. He's Humble

Chance lets his music speak for himself without letting drama or negative publicity to make his way to the top. Of course, he knows he's talented but he remains a genuine person and among artists these days that's almost impossible to find.

8. His unabashed faith

Chance is a Christian and he doesn't care who knows it. He not only helped Kanye create an album based on faith, but he created one himself too. Songs off his mixtape, "Coloring Book" such as "How Great" and "Blessings" are examples of the Gospel influence that he follows. His single "Somewhere in Paradise" also has an extremely religious chorus that reflects his beliefs.

9. His music is FREE

Yes, you read that correctly. Chance is one of the only artists that have never sold any of their music. His music is free for streaming and can be found on Apple Music and Itunes.

10. His music

This needs no explanation.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine.
