My dad is the baby of eight and my mom is the baby of three, so anytime the whole family gets together it is quite the occasion. I had the pleasure of growing up with a large family. Some people may think that having a large family means getting lost in the hustle and bustle and everyone else, but I love my large family! Here are a couple of reasons why!
1. I always have someone to go to when things get rough.
There's always someone there for you, whether it's a shoulder to cry on or some help with life. Plus, family members that have already been through similar situations offer the best advice!
2. We always have great parties.
With so many people our family gatherings are more like parties, and they are never boring! There are so many people to talk to and kids running around, it's a great time!
3. There is always a reason to celebrate.
With so many people, it's always someones birthday, anniversary, wedding, or a holiday.
4. You always have a friend.
Family functions aren't all bad because you always have a friend there! My brothers and I all have cousins around our ages that are fun to have around at family functions.
5. There's always someone new that I didn't know.
I cannot even tell you how many times that there is someone at a family function and I have no idea who they are...It's even worse when they come up to you and tell you how they haven't seen you since you were little and you've grown up so much.
6. There's always plenty of food.
With so many people there is always plenty of food. Everybody makes or brings some kind of food and before you know it, there's like three or four tables of food!
7. Connections
Living in a small area, my family is large enough that people usually know at least someone in my family. People even recognize me at work, or my last name. It has its advantages though.
8. Support system
When anything goes wrong we are always there for each other, no matter what.
9. Don't have it? Someone in the family probably does
it's great! From jewelry, clothes, and hairspray to a pool my family always has it covered!
