To upgrade or not to upgrade, that is the question. For me, I caved after a semester and invested in a Spotify Premium account, mostly because I was SICK of listening to the same ad every other song. However, there are a lot of benefits to upgrading that definitely make it worth it for students to take advantage of the student discounted price for Spotify Premium. Here are 10 reasons why you need to give in and just pay the $5:

1. It’s cheaper for students, as long as you have a university email.

2. You won’t have any interruptions when you are in the middle of an intense study session with classical music.

3. You can make a customized pregame playlist and play “Shots” by LMFAO any time you need.

4. You won’t have to empty your wallet just to keep an up-to-date music library.

5. You and your friends can make the best road trip sing-along playlist – and you can each add the songs you want to at the same time.

6. You can discover new artists by low-key stalking your favorite artists' playlists

7. You can save all the songs you want to listen to so that no-wifi zones don’t prevent you from jamming (WITHOUT TAKING UP EXTRA PHONE SPACE).

8. It’s sad that you know every word to the Spotify ads (we have all been there – and it’s not okay)

9. You have an unlimited library to choose from to musically narrate your life at any moment (Whether it’s Alicia Keys' “Girl on Fire” or Daniel Powter’s “Bad Day”)

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register.
