10 Reasons Why David Tennant Is The Best Doctor

Sorry, all you Matt Smith lovers, but David Tennant is in fact the best doctor ever. Maybe I’m slightly biased because he was the first Doctor I ever saw, but I still believe my claim remains true. Don’t get me wrong, Matt Smith is a very close second. However, I don’t think any doctor will ever beat out David (yes, we’re on a first name basis).

If you need some background, Doctor Who is a British television show that everyone should experience in their lifetime. It centers around a man named The Doctor who travels through time and space saving galaxies and alien races and most of the time, present day London. The interesting concept about this show is that The Doctor is a “time lord”. This basically means that instead of dying, he “regenerates” himself into a different physical form. The 10th regeneration of The Doctor is played by the actor David Tennant, and he is absolutely, hands down the best Doctor ever. Well, at least in my book. Here are 10 great reasons why:

  1. Look at this man. LOOK AT HIM. His perfectly symmetrical face is always making some adorable expression. And look at that hair- it’s not too long nor too short. His hair is always the perfect combination of messy windblown and professionally styled. When God created this man, He combined the wishes of every woman’s perfect man and molded them into a perfect human being named David John McDonald/Tennant.

  2. He’s actually from Scotland, so he has the accent of an angel. Unfortunately, he had to cover up his beautiful, natural, Scottish accent for the show. If that is not hard work and brilliant acting, then what is? However, he was able to use his accent in one episode, “Tooth and Claw” (Series 2, Episode 2), and what a gift it was to hear him speak.

  3. David Tennant is married to Georgia Moffett. The cute part of this is that Georgia played Jenny, The Doctor’s daughter, on an episode appropriately titled “The Doctor’s Daughter” (Series 4, Episode 6). So, David Tennant met his wife on the set of Doctor Who. This just screams adorable. But it gets even cooler! In real life, Georgia is the daughter of Peter Davison, the fifth doctor. They’re the perfect little family of Whovians.

  4. David Tennant has been a Doctor Who fan for years. Since he was a young, David Tennant has been watching and following the show. His first Doctor he saw was Tom Baker, who portrayed The Doctor from 1974-1981. Who doesn’t love a story of a fanboy fulfilling his dreams?

  5. The 10th Doctor’s fashion sense was on point. Mr. Tennant always wore a suit and a tie, but wore converses on the bottom. This created the most wonderful combination of professional, yet adventurous! Sometimes he wears a trench coat overtop his suit. I’ve never been the biggest fan of trench coats, but David Tennant can certainly pull one off.

  6. David Tennant gave The Doctor the best love story of Doctor Who history- The Doctor and Rose. Sure, we were all a little wary about Rose at first, but we were bawling by the time we watched the episode “Doomsday” (Series 2, Episode 13). Guys, this man orbited a supernova just to say goodbye to a girl and then later gives his human half to her. If that’s not love, I don’t know what it.

  7. David Tennant acted out the 10th Doctor’s regeneration absolutely perfectly. If you hear someone admit that they didn’t cry while watching this scene, they’re obviously lying.

  8. David Tennant added a heroic feel to The Doctor that I can’t really explain. I was never too nervous watching him as The Doctor because I knew he would always save the day. The wit and brain-power David brought to Doctor Who was brilliant to say the least. To me, he’s The Doctor that can get out of the stickiest of situations. If you ever need inspiration, watch his “I’m The Doctor” speech.

  9. David Tennant made The Doctor a fun, lovable guy. David Tennant’s portrayal of The Doctor was goofy and adorable in the very best of ways; however, he was also very real. The 10th Doctor really did care about people and cultures and tragedies. David Tennant gave The Doctor a newfound, wide-range of emotions that were all absolutely endearing.

  10. He is adorable wearing 3D glasses.

All in all, David Tennant was my first doctor, so of course he’s my number one. However, setting aside whichever Doctor is your favorite, I think we can all agree that we all love The Doctor, whatever his appearance is.

If you haven’t seen the show, I definitely encourage you to watch it. If you want to get a good taste of what the show is like, I suggest the first episode you watch is “Blink” (Series 3, Episode 10). It gives you a good taste of adventure, mystery, problem-solving, and, of course, David Tennant. Happy watching, Whovians!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
