You drive to college, they help you unpack and before you know it, your parents have left you in this unknown place with a bunch of strangers around you.
However, while you already miss everything about high school and are about to send pictures to your high school friends of your new dorm room, little did you know how much better college is than high school.
1. Freedom
Let those freedom bell rings! Of course the most obvious reason as to why college is better is because you are free and independent. You no longer have a curfew or have to tell your parents where you are going, who you are going with, and so on.
2. Naps
During your eight-hour high school days you had classes back to back and could never just take a nap in a nice cozy bed. In college you can plan out your naps between your first and second class. And maybe even after your third..
3. Student discounts…everywhere
People seem to realize that being a “broke college student” is a real thing. Thankfully student discounts are everywhere from Amazon, Spotify, stores, and more!
4. New people
For four long years you sat next to the same people, hung out with the same crowd, and you and your friends have probably even dated some of the same people. In college, you get to see new faces every day and many opportunities to meet new people!
5. Classes
Finally, you have classes that you are somewhat interested in and pertain to what you want to do in your life. Also, they are not only shorter and more spread out, but they are also on different days of the week (AKA people in your Tuesday class won’t see your shirt if you happened to wear it on Monday too).
6. You find your real friends
While it can be saddening that you might separate from your high school friends, you realize who your real friends are that keep in touch once you get to college and make an effort to FaceTime and call every once in a while.
7. Activities
Football games, concerts, shows. In college, there are so many different types of people and fundraisers, which means there is almost always an activity or event available for you to attend (also they are a great excuse for a study break).
8. People care less
Thankfully college students are on the road to adulthood which means they are more mature than your classmates in you graduated with. While there are still small amounts of drama no matter what, it is definitely lowered once college hits. Everyone is worried about getting to class, not your latest gossip from last weekend.
9. Greek life
While some may not be as interested in Greek life as others, the option of joining the Greek community is always available, and especially the Frat parties!
10. You become more appreciative
While your mom is no longer there to make you dinner or aid you in your laundry, you begin to really appreciate everything your parents have done for you over the years (and really start to miss them.. and their cooking!)
