10 Reasons Why College Friends Make The Best Friends

1. They are going through the same things you are

We're all going through similar experiences and situations so being able to have people to reach out to for support is a really great thing to have. So when you're sitting in the hallway of your dorm and just kind of stare off for an hour and then cry, your college friend will join you.

2. They will NEVER judge you

When you watch ten seasons of Supernatural in two weeks, you might think that your friends would judge you, well your college friends won't! They most likely will join you and not care that you haven't showered in a few days.

3. They will always be there for you

Through all of the crazy professors and homework assignments, and dealing with regular life, college friends understand how important it is to have a shoulder to lean on, so they are more than willing to help out.

4. They haven't known you your entire life

This is one of the best things about college friends, they haven't known you your entire life, so they only know the person that you are now. I think this is an amazing thing because you change and figure out so much about yourself in college and the friends that you make along the way are the friends that you'll have for a very long time. These are the friends that you choose to have in your life and they like you for who you truly are. I'm not saying that friends that you have had in the past aren't your true friends, I just think that, from personal experience, college friends understand who you really are and that's why college friendships last a life-time.

5. They know exactly how to cheer you up

Throughout your journey in college, you are going to go through some really hard times. But have no fear, because your college friends will know exactly what to do. Whether its sitting there and crying with you, going out to buy all the junk food possible to eat, or just distracting you from your problems, college friends can handle it all.

6. They are different from you

Since you are going to a bigger/ different school, you get to meet so many different types of people with many different types of backgrounds, beliefs and opinions, but that's what makes college friends so amazing! You can relate to a lot of different people based off your experiences and find new friends who have had completely different life experiences, it truly is the coolest thing.

7. They don't care if your life gets busy

College friends understand that life gets busy and that you have a lot going on, so they don't care if you don't go out with them all the time, or need to catch up on things. College friends don't care what you do as long as you're still there for them.

8. Seeing them after winter/summer break is the best thing ever

Not seeing your college friends for a few months can really bum you out, so when you see them you can't help but tackle them and then spend the next few days catching up.

9. They love you

Going through everything together, it's hard not to love your college friends. Friendship love is one of the best types of love and I'm very grateful because I so many amazing college friends.

10. They are apart of your family

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
