With national cat day on Saturday, here is why we should be celebrating them as animals!

1) They are independent and proud of it!

Cats don't need to be mollycoddled, you can leave them to come in and out, letting them go to work, have a date for the night and sort their lives out all by themselves (they put us to shame really!)

2) But they still love cuddles!

No matter how independent they are, they make sure they look after their humans by letting you stroke them, or most cats even like a good cuddle.

3) They are also great listeners

Cats know that their human owners need a good rant every now and then, and can actually be really good listeners as long as you play with their fur.

4) They don't have to go for a walk everyday but they make their own fun!

While juggling their careers and looking after their loved ones, cats generally make life fun by adventuring and exploring whenever they can. They are the daredevil we want to be!

5) They are fiercely protective

Never off duty these cats could basically be our guards, never letting stupid dogs or frustrated parents get near their little play buddies.

6) Which also means they are obnoxious about space and don't care if you know it

Sometimes they really want you to love them and they don't care if you need to get work done, they believe you owe them big time for all the times they listened to you blab on about your latest crush

7) They come in many shapes and sizes

Just like humans, cats don't come in one size, they come in many different colors and sizes and they still got swag about it.

8) They help us see how fun the small things in life can be

Whether it is a plastic bag, cardboard box, or ball of fluff, cats know how to enjoy the small things in life, because hey life is short especially for cats.

9) Basically acting like giant fluffy pillows

With that amount of fur, they are basically walking teddy bears, especially for children

10) But the best part about cats is that for them food is life and they are proud of it!

Food is life even for cats!
