The Bachelorette is officially in full swing for its 12th season. That's right we have been watching girls fall in love with their prince charming for almost 12 full years now. All the way back in the early 2000s we met our first Bachelorette, Trista Rehn Sutter. Sutter married her prince charming from the show Matt Sutter in 2003. Showing us that the Bachelorette might just have something that the Bachelor doesn't...the women in control. Since Trista's seasons we have seen relationships crash and burn like Jen Schefft (she turned down both guys) or more recently happily ever afters with Ashley Hebert and J.P. Rosenbaum.
Last season we fell in love with sweet and giggly Kaitlin (we all knew she would pick Shawn B.) and yet we weren't heartbroken when she left Chris Soules's season. Now Jo Jo was and still is a different story. Hearts were broken and tears were shed on both sides of the TV when Ben Higgins told both girls he loved them. Watching as Ben told her he would never blindside her and then telling her he wasn't going to propose broke fans hearts. Cue the tears, eating your body weight in rocky road ice cream and wanting to share that bottle of wine with Jo Jo's mom. Yet, all viewers’ dreams were answered in the episode "After the Final Rose," when everyone found out that Jo Jo would be the next Bachelorette. We all just wanted her to be able to find love, and wanting the best for her as proved to have made this one of the best seasons yet. I've been keeping a tally of the things that make this season the best and here they go.....
1. One word "CHAD"
Every fairy tale needs a villain and he's ours. Anyone else still cringing from him walking through the woods whistling? Is anyone getting a major Gaston vibe?
2. James Taylor
Who doesn't want to watch a guy write and sing songs for you? CAN WE JUST MAKE HIM THE NEXT BACHELOR ALREADY?!
3. Jo Jo's southern accent
A Texas girl is true to any southern girl's heart. It's nice and reassuring to hear a little bit of that country twang and have her saying "y'all."
4. Jo Jo's brothers
We haven't reached hometown visits yet, but after meeting her big brothers on the last season of the Bachelor we know whatever happens will be entertaining. Seriously, though, talk about melting our hearts everyone loves a big brother protecting his baby sister!
5. Down and Dirty
We all know from watching seasons of the Bachelor that some girls are more worried about breaking a nail than having fun. Jo Jo is the complete opposite. She has swam with pigs, sandboarded, played football and we are only halfway done with the season.
6. The Producers
The show hid them before and tried to pretend like all this was happening on its own, but all true Bachelor/Bachelorette fans have seen Unreal on Lifetime. We know what’s happening behind the scenes (cough, cough we know you placed that magazine for the guys to find).
7. Erectile Dysfunction
Thank you ABC for giving my sister and me something to make jokes about for two hours every Monday. Oh, Evan.... you would think an erectile dysfunction specialist would be able to afford a new $20 shirt.
8. Her Ex
Viewers have never seen him and all we know is his name is "Chad." All everyone knows is that he makes Jo Jo cry and no one likes that. It makes us root for her even more. Ditch the Ex for good Jo Jo!
9. Cat Fights
Are they still called a cat fight if it's between guys? Chad and Alex are somehow always in the middle of it, and now that Chad is gone it looks like Derick is taking his place. Just to think I was rooting for Derek too, but not anymore. BYE BYE Derek.
10. Jordan
The brother of Aaron Rodgers. He's a former pro football player, his hair swoops, Jo Jo has been all about him from day one and yet I still question him. Did he cheat on his ex? Is he really not the person he says he is? Is he looking for fame? I keep tuning in to find out!
As Chris Harrison says this will truly be the most dramatic season yet.
