Jane the Virgin is a great show for those of us who are not familiar with the world of telenovelas. For those who are unfamiliar with this TV show, a brief synopsis: Jane is a virgin (hence the title). She is a planner who is happy with her life being on a completely different course than her mother’s was when she was Jane’s age. Jane has a loving fiancé and then she suddenly finds herself pregnant after being mistakenly artificially inseminated.

Things are a LOT more complicated than that but still the show covers so much from, of course, the topic of virginity to the actual ridiculousness of having a life that is so much like a telenovela. The show’s second season recently ended and is also on Netflix. Seriously it’s a good show and here are at least 10 reasons why:

1. It shows three generations of strong and independent Latina women dealing with life in it's various up's and down's.

2. Pregnancy and motherhood is hard, but even through it all Jane still has her own dreams and ambitions

3. This show also tackles some pretty serious topics like immigration. There is a whole arc in the story that shows how much fear some immigrants live with.

4. They have a character who speaks exclusively Spanish but that doesn't change the fact that she is one of the strongest characters in the show

Abuela is life

5. Each character has multiple dimensions to them and also pretty racially diverse.

The episodes are structured in a way that show how life isn't as black and white as we hope it is and there are moments when the "bad guys" are good and the "good" guys do bad things.

6. The topics of faith, religion and sexuality are dealt with in a comical albeit serious fashion

7. It shows the struggles of parenthood but also shows that it is totally worth it all

8. There is a omnipresent narrator but he also likes to interject is how comments at what is happening during the show

9. The main character is very easy to relate to

She is overachieving, ambitious, awkward, sassy, seeks approval and is a growing person. Also she's a hopeless romantic and wants the perfect romance like a lot of us do plus she has a happy dance and it's amazing.

10. The love triangle is seriously intense and who doesn't enjoy a good love triangle

Seriously Rafael and Jane all the way though...

This is a hilarious comedy that may be a bit overwhelming and cheesy sometimes but this is a show that you can't help but what to watch. It is a great show to binge watch before the summer is over.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.

11 Times Aubrey Plaza Described Sophomore Year

"I don't want to do things. I want to do not things."

Aubrey Plaza is one of my favorite humans in Hollywood. She's honest, blunt, unapologetic, and hilarious. I just started my sophomore year of college, and found that some of her best moments can accurately describe the start of the school year.

1. When your advisor tells you that you should declare a major soon.

2. Seeing the lost and confused freshmen and remembering that was you a short year ago, and now being grateful you know the ins and outs of the campus.

3. Going to the involvement fair to sign up for more clubs knowing that you are already too involved.

4. When you actually do the reading required for the first class.

5. Seeing your friends for the first time since last semester.

6. When you're already drowning in homework during syllabus week.

7. Realizing you don't have the same excitement for classes as you did as a freshman.

8. Going home and seeing people from high school gets weirder the older you get.
