1. New adventures
When I left to go to college, I could pee in my pants because of how excited I was to go to a different place. I was eager yet a little scared to experience something different.
2. You get to make new memories
Being stuck in the same dand town can start to become boring and repetitive, but in a brand new city you are able to do re-explore and forget those bad memories that made you want to leave in the first place.
3. And meet new people along the way..
I talk to 3 people total from high school, but so far in college I have met friends that I know will be in my life forever. It sounds cheesy but you really do meet life long friends in college. I would have never met them if I stayed in my hometown.
4. You gain a sense of independence
Whether you like it or not, you need to one day fly away from the nest and leave the comfort of your parents. Doing so not only helps you grow up but also teaches you skills you"ll need to know later in life.
5. You get to follow your dreams
How close can you really get to your dream in your town? There is only so much you can do.
6. You get a brand new start
If you went to high school like I did you most likely had A LOT of drama. It was so nice to get away and start over. No one knows who you are, you can literally be a brand new person.
7. You learn to to be responsible
Without your parents to rely on, you are forced to actually do things like your own dishes, and pay your own bills. It honestly sucks, but I rather learn how to do it now and not be totally blind sighted when I enter real adult hood.
8. Learn how to manage money
I am not gonna like I am poor most of the time. But rationing your money and learning that your light bill and groceries are more important than money for liquor does come in handy.
9. Exposed to different cultures
I have never been exposed to so many different type of people. I have wrapped my head around the fact that everyone you meet has come from a different background. That's the reason why we are all unique.
10. Your Horizons Broaden
At the end of the day the town you grew up in will always be apart of you, but leaving, even for a short time period, opens up your opportunities to become better in all aspects.
