10 Reasons To Fall Into Fall

Fall has never been my favorite season for many reasons. First of all, it signals the end of summer, the beginning of the school grind, and the welcoming of chilly winter weather. I am a cold-natured individual who hates cold weather more than anything, and I would rather sweat than freeze any day of the week. Now you're probably going to say "just put on more layers!" But to be honest, it doesn't matter how many sweatshirts I put on or blankets I hide under--I will still manage to feel cold on the inside. All worries of winter aside, I believe I have never managed to appreciate fall in all of its glory. Here are a few reasons why you should enjoy this season for all it has to offer!

1. Amazing Scenery.

If you live in Kentucky like I do, it means that the scenery is gorgeous, and the leaves on the trees will fall and twirl in a windswept frenzy of pure elegance.

2. Perfect Weather

Also for Kentuckians, the hot/humid/sticky summer weather is toned down to a pleasant cool. Today, the high was actually 86 degrees (which is perfect in my opinion), but the nights are cool and refreshing. Normally, 50's and 60's are the highs for fall which are really comfortable temperatures.

3. Bonfires and S'mores!

While you can technically enjoy a bonfire and a good s'more any day of the year, there is something magical about a campfire in the woods when the weather gets a bit chilly. And nothing can beat the perfection of a tasty s'more. Don't forget the hot chocolate!

4. Fall is for Football!

Whether you're playing it or watching it or both, fall is all about football! The season is now in full swing, and you can watch all of your favorite teams that you've waited all spring and summer to see. And let's not forget to mention the excitement of a backyard pickup game!!

5. Halloween

Bring on the ghosts, goblins and gory garb! Halloween is the perfect time for a party, to dress up in a ridiculous outfit, or to do my favorite pastime: trick-or-treating! (You can never really be too old.)

6. Cross Country

This may not be everyone's favorite reason to love fall, but if you run cross country like I do, then this is your time to grind! Long runs across gold and orange fields, workouts crunching over dead leaves, and exciting weekend races make this season a distance runner's favorite time of year to run!

7. Pumpkin food!

Pumpkin flavored coffee, pumpkin bread, pumpkin pie, pumpkin cookies...you get the picture. If you like to savor the flavor of pumpkin, you are in luck!

8. Pumpkin Carving!

Pumpkins are great for decorating and eating alike! Our family's favorite tradition is carving pumpkins and then cooking the seeds afterwards. Just rinse the seeds, place them on a baking sheet with a little olive oil and salt and you have an amazing and healthy snack!

9. Sweater Weather

What better time to wear your favorite fall fashions than when the weather gets a bit chilly?

10. Thanksgiving

As the fall season nears a close, Thanksgiving is a great way to relax and spend time with family before the craziness of the holidays. Plus who doesn't love all the food! My personal favorites are all the carbs--bread, stuffing, mashed potatoes--forget about the turkey!

I hope you enjoyed the top ten reasons why fall may be the best season of all! Be sure to enjoy making memories this fall with your family and friends! And enjoy the nice weather before winter strikes!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
