1. Keeping a Snapchat Streak:
Now, as trivial as this may seem, losing a snapchat streak that’s longer that 3 days can feel like a tragedy. The reason being that you and a friend went the whole day without seeing each other’s smiling face. That little flame emoji symbolizes your knowledge of what’s going on in your friend’s life while you can’t be with them, and missing out can make you feel like you haven’t seen them in ages. The feeling of seeing that little number pass double digits makes you feel like you and your friend haven’t missed a beat during your time apart!
2. Having Your Name Spelled Right on a Food Order (or in General):
It is always a blessing when someone spells your name right on the first go. Growing up with an uncommon and difficult name I’ve always experienced some interesting versions of my name on my Starbucks cups and introductions don’t always go as smooth as I’d like. But when it’s done right it’s like hearing an angel choir for the first time.
3. Finding Old Money in a Pocket:
There is no better feeling than slipping your hand in your pocket expecting nothing but a little lint and pulling out a wrinkly dollar bill. You end up thanking your past self for forgetting that money in the first place and grinning like an idiot with your hands in your pockets.
4. Finding a Long Lost Sock:
It’s an inevitable part of doing laundry; you put two socks in the wash and only one comes out. We never quite know what happened to that other half, but we move on and put the loner away. Then, the faithful day comes when the sock makes a return and that stress you didn’t even know you had is now lifted off your shoulders. Another complete pair of socks richer.
5. Using a Towel that Covers Your Bum:
As a member of the tall people community, it has been a life long struggle to find a body towel that isn’t a glorified wash cloth. Especially when visiting friend’s houses or staying at hotels, it seems impossible to find anything that hangs past my belly-button. But every once in a while someone somewhere has stocked up on bath sheets and us tall folk can be dry and cozy in something other than a sad attempt at a towel.
6. Things with a lot of Pockets:
I would always get jealous of my dad as a kid when he would wear cargo shorts. He could hold everything and anything he could possibly need throughout the day and still have two free hands. It always puts a smile on my face when my jeans or a shirt has extra or real pockets because now a day its more common to see a phony, useless pocket where a real one would come in handy.
7. Pulling off the Perfect Prank:
Even something as small as hiding around a corner, as long as it gets a little reaction that smile can last indefinitely. I don’t know why it’s so entertaining to scare or be scared, but it’s definitely a little something that’ll never get old
8. Taking Warm Clothes out of the Dryer:
I believe the coziest feeling is wrapping yourself up in all your freshly washed clothes that are still snuggly and warm. This is especially nice in the winter time when you’re feeling chilly.
9. Finding Something You Thought was Lost Forever:
There are a lot of things I used to use all the time as a kid and one day they would just disappear. It’s usually a few years later when you’re doing some spring cleaning or reorganizing that you find something you thought you looked everywhere for. Even if you don’t need it anymore, it always brings back that nostalgic feeling.
10. Seeing an Old Friend:
One thing I’ve learned from going away to college and coming back home during breaks and the summer is that is is basically impossible to avoid running into people you used to know during school. I know some of us are notorious for trying to avoid an awkward chit chat conversation, but sometimes it is nice to hear how people have changed since you last knew them. Seeing someone smile about how they’re doing in life is a butterfly affect, you’ll find yourself smiling about it later.
