If you have ever experienced a private school or specifically, Catholic school, you know the never-ending list of rules handed out within the first week of every year. It’s the list that tells you what you should and shouldn’t do, along with consequences for each. Then, senior year hits and everyone is looking forward to their new life in college, dreaming of every “bad ass” thing they can do. So, with that being said, here are 10 reasons why private school girls party in college, coming from someone who rarely ever goes to parties.
1. There Are More Than 10 Guys In Your Class
Thirty-eight students. This was my graduating class at my Catholic high school. About ten of the thirty-eight students were male in my class. When you’re at a college as big as The University of Alabama, there is always a male student within range. So, why not find a hot guy and ask them out to a party? Or better yet, they ask you.
2. The Skirts Don’t Have To Be Below The Knee
Have you ever been told to kneel beside your desk, so your teacher can see if your skirt touches the floor? Have you ever been sent home during homecoming week because you were wearing Nike tempos? It is a struggle that every private school girl has to face, but in college, it doesn’t matter! There is no reason why you can’t find the best party outfit, which consists of a skirt that might reveal more than it should… because, COLLEGE.
3. There Are Parties...
Yes, if you haven’t discovered this yet, there are parties in college. Not the parties that are held in the school cafeteria, while teachers cover the perimeter of the room trying to find someone to kick out. No. There are actual parties. They start late and end up in Waffle House at 3 a.m., while calling Uber or 348-RIDE.
4. You Don't Have To "Leave Room For Jesus"
It’s the middle school dance and you want to dance with John so much, but he’s talking to his friends and you’re wondering if you should go back to the restroom to touch-up your makeup. Then, out of nowhere…he asks you to dance. You walk to the center of the room together, when all of the sudden the loudspeaker shouts, “Remember kids, leave room for Jesus!” Yes, this actually happens. But in college, no. You can dance as close as you want to each other and there will be no room for Jesus, especially on Sunday morning.
5. You Are Already Used To Staying Up Late
Private school goes hand-in-hand with homework. A lot of homework. They say it’s good. That it prepares you for college, but no, it prepares you for the late-night parties in college. You’ve already stayed up until 3 a.m. writing a research paper at the last minute, so obviously it won’t be hard to stay up for a couple of drinks…and maybe a guy.
6. You Can Drink... And Drink
Yes, finally. You're 18 and you can buy a fake ID. You can get so drunk to the point where you blackout and can’t remember where you were. But that’s OK, because you're 18 and your ID says it’s legal.
7. There Is No Dress Code
NO DRESS CODE. This means crop tops, cleavage, short shorts, high heels... with short shorts, and CLEAVAGE. Yes, it’s true. College does not have a dress code and anyone who is driving down University Boulevard on a weekend night knows that.
8. There Are No Rules
This is the main reason I think the majority of private school girls enjoy partying. Yes, it is fun, but there are also no rules. Obviously, drinking underage is an issue, but everyone does it, so that’s a major rule that is thrown out. There isn’t anyone always telling you what you can or can’t do, which gives you a lot of freedom.
9. You Don't Know Everyone... And They Don't Know You
The kid you grew up with since you were in three-year-old pre-school is probably not going to be in the same bar as you. Everyone there doesn’t know you very well. They don’t know if you were the nerd in high school or if you were the most popular. They know almost nothing about your past, so there is room to be who you want to be. No judgment.
10. No More 8 a.m.s
Class schedules. In high school, it was 8 a.m. or tardy. In college, you can pick and choose which classes you want and at what time. So, if you know you are going to be hungover on a Friday, you can schedule your class for 1 p.m. It’s simple and effective.
Although I am not a major partier, I have heard stories. As Freshman year comes to a close, almost everyone has had their fair share of parties and late-nights. It is a time to have fun, whether that is going out all of the time or staying in and watching Netflix. It’s college, so DO WHAT YOU WANT!
