10 Reasons Why Penn State Is The Actual Best College

Penn State undeniably has the most passionate students. We love our school, football team, THON, and all of the other amazing traditions we have. The idea that all of the students here agree on is that they go to thebest school in the country. Here are a few simple reasons why this claim is one hundred percent true:

1. Football

Whether we win or lose, our football games and tailgating are the best of the best. We are the number one student section in the country, and we live up to that title.

2. THON

Penn State is the birth place of the Dance Marathon for cancer. THON is an amazing experience that you can't get anywhere else, the students come together and spend all year preparing for it.

3. Downtown

Anything you need you can get downtown. If you need a restaurant to eat at, a bar, game day/ going out clothes, groceries, and just about anything you can think of we have it right here. Having an accessible downtown is something that makes PSU special, and whenever you have the urge to get off campus, going downtown is the perfect option.

4. School Spirit

Like I stated earlier, Penn State has some of the most passionate students alive. You can feel the spirit of the school even with just stepping onto campus, especially on game days, and Fridays before game day.

5. Food

Penn State's Berkey Creamery is the actual best ice cream place that exists. We also have other famous foods such as stickies and pokey sticks. Aside from our traditional foods, we have pretty much every type of food you can imagine downtown.

6. Campus

Despite the large size of this school, our campus is completely walkable. Not only is it walkable, but it's a beautiful well-kept campus which is impressive for a State University. Our buildings are very different from each other, so seeing all the buildings is interesting. Everything is well-lit making the campus more safe for walking at night. We also have a great bussing system for students for those rainy or cold days.

7. Networking

Penn State has one of the best alumni networks that exists currently. This is a huge advantage for our students when they enter into the work force.

10. Academics

Penn State is a top academic school, with a challenging curriculum that helps students grow and learn. Every program we have here is at the top of its league, but we also pride ourselves on our most elite colleges, such as our Business and Engineering schools.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
