If you are like me, Disney Channel was a very important aspect of your childhood. Not only was each movie and T.V. show entertaining, but they also taught important lessons. Disney Channel inspired constant creativity by the new ideas it presented. Our generation watched a lot of it and learned many valuable lessons that we will never forget.

1. Disney taught us that family always comes first.

No matter how much they annoy us, we were always shown that family will be there for you more than anybody else ever will. Even Stevens taught us that a dysfunctional family is still one who loves each other.

2. We were shown characteristics of true friends.

Each small group of friends in every show struggled and fought, but they were always there for each other in the end. Disney Channel pushed the idea that it is more important to have two really good friends rather than a bunch of acquaintances. Lizzie, Gordo, and Miranda stuck together through it all. Just like Raven, Chelsea, and Eddie. Or Miley, Oliver, and Lily. You get the point. It seems like three was the magic number.

3. We grew up knowing it is important to follow our dreams, no matter what it takes.

Miley did not want to show who she really was so that she could live a normal life along with her life full of fame. She did it all to live her passion in the way she always wanted to.

4. Before we knew what it was like to become self-conscious, we were shown what true confidence and self love looks like multiple times throughout Disney Channel shows.

Raven was always confident, happy, and did not care what people thought of her. She was a strong role model, just like most Disney stars were as their characters.

5. Even when growing up felt hard, our favorite shows reminded us that everything was normal and okay.

Preach it, Lizzie!

6. We learned at an early age that it is O.K. to be who we want to. No matter how much judgement we get.

For example, Troy Bolton had three passions: basketball, performing, and Gabriella. He was only supported by others for playing basketball, but still pursued the other two just as much as the game.

7. We were reminded that it is perfectly normal to be different than our siblings.

Zach and Cody were complete opposites. They sometimes fought, but mostly got along. Sometimes, we compare ourselves to our siblings. This show just showed us that it does not matter how different we are to our siblings, we are still just as important as them.

8. We grasped an idea about what to look for in a future partner.

Gordo knew throughout the entire show that he was in love with Lizzie, and so did viewers. Lizzie kept him in the friend-zone, and finally realized she had feelings for him as well. In the episode where he said this, she was heart broken over a guy who she was dating that found someone else. Gordo showed a characteristic of a good guy. This was a common them throughout Disney Channel original shows.

9. Disney Channel taught us that it's OK to make mistakes and feel embarrassed sometimes.

As Hannah Montana once said, nobody's perfect.

10. After every bad day, we always knew we could come home from school to our favorite shows. Each night, there was a different movie, and it was so exciting to be able to see what it would be.

So many classics.

Old Disney Channel will always have a place in our hearts. Without it, our childhood would not have been the same.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
