Fall is my favorite time of the year, and October is my favorite month. I love the changing colors of the leaves on the trees and the smell of the crisp autumn morning. Fall is more than a season; it is a lifestyle. Sure, most girls love fall for the leggings, scarves, sweater weather, football season, or even the pumpkin spice flavored everything, but those don’t even compare to the reasons I love October. So here are my 10 reasons October is the best month of the year, giving credit to all the wonderful movies created for or around the great holiday of Halloween.
1. "Halloweentown"
To start things off, if you are anything like me, October, or more specifically Halloween, means two things: candy and "Halloweentown." These movies were my childhood and I still really enjoy sitting back on a fall evening and watching the whole series of "Halloweentown" movies.
2. "Hocus Pocus"
Another classic Halloween movie would be "Hocus Pocus." For those of you who have seen this movie, you know why this is on the list. It is a holiday classic that I highly encourage everyone to watch at least once this fall season.
3. "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown"
For the true kids at heart, this movie is undeniably a Halloween classic. Who doesn’t love Charlie Brown? This movie will bring out your younger side for anyone who watches it. Again, a must-see this holiday season.
4. "Casper The Friendly Ghost"
This movie is great for all ages. Casper, the friendly ghost, is one of the only ghosts everyone just loves.
5. "Double, Double, Toil and Trouble"
Who doesn’t love a little bit of young Mary Kate and Ashley? This movie is definitely one of my favorites for this time of year. It takes me back to my childhood and all the wonderful memories surrounding Halloween.
6. "Ghostbusters"
Who you gonna call?? The Ghostbusters, of course!! A perfect movie for the whole family to enjoy this fall.
7. "The Haunted Mansion"
Another family friendly movie for this Halloween is "The Haunted Mansion." This movie is based on the iconic ride at Disney World.
8. "Beetlejuice"
"Beetlejuice," for the more scary movies this holiday season. It's an older movie, but still a great choice for Halloween.
9. "A Nightmare on Elm Street"
All you scarier horror film lovers, this movie is for you. The original or redone movie will make you scream and hide behind your pillow. A classic horror movie for this Halloween.
10. "Halloween"
And finally, the absolute classic for this October: "Halloween." Michael Myers is sure to give you the chills during this thriller. How could you not watch it on Halloween when the name of this scary movie is "Halloween"? It is a definite choice for anyone who loves a good scare.
