At this point in the year, it seems like a lot of things have gone wrong. Maybe this year hasn't been as great so far as we may have wanted it to be, but it's not over yet, and the best months of the year are just getting started. Here are ten things that are sure to put you in a better mood this November.

1. Reduced-price Halloween candy

What better way to start off the best month of the year than with bags and bags of candy--all at a conveniently reduced price? Head to the candy section of Walmart and treat yo self.

2. Cooler weather = better clothes

One of the simplest pleasures in life is getting to wear your favorite comfy sweater for the first time all year. Everyone has been looking forward to "sweater weather" pretty much since August, and November means it's finally here.

3. The election

I know, I know, you're tired of this election, but here's the good news: November means it's over. You're done hearing everyone's two cents about the candidates on Facebook--for the most part, at least. And for most college students, like myself, it's our first time to vote, which is exciting in itself.

4. Holiday Starbucks drinks are back

It's the most wonderful time of the year: Caramel Brûlée Latte season (or whichever holiday drink you prefer). It's always exciting when these festive flavors come back around on November 1st, along with those famous cups.

5. NaNoWriMo

For writers, November is the most exciting, terrifying, anxiety-inducing, and fun month of the year: National Novel Writing Month. Mostly just referred to as NaNoWriMo, this month is a challenge taken on by writers around the world to write an entire novel in a month, and it's something we look forward to every year.

(If you have no idea what I'm talking about, just imagine this point says "football.")

6. You’re almost done with the semester

The beginning of November means the semester is coming to an end, and even your professors might start slacking off a little. You start talking about final projects, final exams, and how many class meetings you have left, and you can practically smell Christmas break.

7. Thanksgiving

Speaking of smells, let's talk about Thanksgiving. Everyone knows November = Thanksgiving = food. You get to spend time with your family, take a break from classes and work, eat good food, and enjoy yourself completely guilt-free.

8. Black Friday sales

And after thanksgiving comes Black Friday; even if you don't brave the crowds in stores, you can find deals online that will make you a much happier person about Christmas shopping.

9. Hallmark Christmas movies start playing

Even though ABC's "25 Days of Christmas" doesn't start until December, November marks the beginning of Hallmark's Christmas movie extravaganza. It may be a little early to start celebrating Christmas, but these ridiculously cheesy movies are an exception, right?

10. You get one extra hour!

Thanks to our pals from World War I who introduced us to Daylight Savings Time, we get a whole extra hour of sleep in November. It only makes sense that the best month of the year gets a little extra time.

So, while the rest of the year may not have lived up to expectations, November is sure to make up for it. It's time to stock up on candy, put on your favorite comfy sweater, grab some Starbucks, and relax with your family and your favorite terrible Christmas movie.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
