One of my favorite poet's, Rupi Kaur, once said: "I struggle so deeply to understand how someone can pour their entire soul blood and energy into someone without wanting anything in return- I will have to wait till I'm a mother." Throughout life, my mom has had the ability to carry the weight of the world on her shoulders without asking for anything in return. Here are the reasons why my mom is a superwoman.
1. She's my sunshine even when its dark and raining
Her texts, FaceTime calls, and phone calls remind me that even though she's not physically here she is at home supporting me and the decisions I make.
Fun Fact: I used to sing "You Are My Sunshine" to her when I was a little girl.
2. She inspires me to keep working hard even when I feel like I can't
My mom is currently completing her Bachelor´s degree. When I'm up late at night studying and working on assignments, I think of the times I've visited home and her long nights by the laptop working on her own assignments. If my mom with a job and two kids in college can do it, who says I can't?
3. Her eagerness to learn always reminds me that there's always something new to learn
When I talk to my mom about school and what she's learning, she can easily recall the things she has learned and talk about their importance. It's amazing to hear her speak so passionately.
4. She never lets me forget that laughter is the best medicine
There seriously isn't a time in our house when were somber and quiet. We're always cracking jokes on one another or about random things. I really wonder where my mom gets her sense of humor from but she's hilarious.
5. Without her, my other best friend, my older brother, wouldn't be here
Everyone who knows me knows my brother and I are partners in crime. My life without him would be completely different. She gave me a protector, raised a man of example and I couldn't be prouder to be his (not so) little sister.
6. When there isn't a way she makes a way
When things get tough she always makes a way for things to happen. It´s a blessing!
7. She keeps her promises and taught me to always keep mine
When my brother and I were little we would always make her pinky promise with us. There isn't one promise she hasn't kept.
8. She taught me to be honest and to be real, even when others don't like it
We have the same character so if you know me you definitely know what my mom is like.
9. She manages to juggle her work life, family life, education, and spiritual life without much difficulty.
10. She taught me the importance of faith, family, and self-love.
Without her as an example in my life, I wouldn´t be the young woman I am today.
I'm eternally grateful for having a mother like you. You continuously teach me new things about what it means to be a mother and about the world itself. Thank you for always supporting my dreams, my writing, everything I do. I really couldn't do this without you. I hope to be a superwoman mom one day just like you!
