If you're like me, then you're pretty unhappy with all of the current presidential candidates. Here is a list of 10 qualities most Americans want their president to have and why Michael Scott would be the best option. #MichaelScott2016
1. Leadership
You don’t buy yourself a “World’s Best Boss” mug from Spencer’s Gifts if you don’t have incredible leadership qualities. In season two, Michael is asked, “Would you rather be feared or loved”. Michael replied, “Easy, both. I want people to be afraid of how much they love me.” We wish that all of the current presidential candidates realized the importance of being both well respected and liked.
2. Management skills
Michael Scott knows how to run a company. He inspires his employees with motivational quotes, and has exceptional team building exercises. He also supports diversity in the work place tremendously. He also respects past presidents, “Abraham Lincoln once said, ‘If you are a racist, I will attack you with the North,’ and those are the principles I carry with me into the workplace.”3. Goal- and achievement-oriented
He knows how to get the job done. “I’m an early bird and a night owl. So I’m wise and I have worms.” He wakes up early, and works late. He also is the host of the annual Dundee Awards, which allows him to recognize the hard work of others. In fact, he even gave Kevin an award for making the bathroom smell worse than anyone else! Dunder Mifflin is so lucky to have a regional manager who cares about his employees so much!4. Real life experience ... outside of politics
Being the regional manager at Dunder Mifflin Paper Company’s Scranton branch is all the real life experience one would need to run for President. He knows how to dance, crack a joke, relate to younger people, and be serious when needed. Plus -- he knows how to throw an incredible Christmas party, which would top all of the other events ever held at the White House.5. Master negotiator
Michael is good at negotiating. He was excellent at negotiating with Darryl. Michael has an extensive list of negotiating tactics. Establishing a dominant physical position by whispering would definitely help when negotiating with terrorists.6. Plain spoken and direct
He tells it like it is. He knows that Wikipedia is the best possible source of information because so many people can write about anything they want. Michael doesn’t pretend to like Toby -- he is plain spoken and direct in his hatred. He also doesn’t sugar coat anything.7. Competitive spirit and driven to win
During episode five of season one, Michael challenges the warehouse workers to a game of basketball. His competitive spirit is obvious when Michael claims a flagrant personal intentional foul, and stops the game. He ultimately declares his team as the winners. Although he ultimately makes his team come in on Saturday, because he is so dedicated to his career.8. In it for the long term
He understands the importance of his work, and therefore, he is in it for the long term. “The most sacred thing I do is care and provide for my workers, my family. I give them money. I give them food. Not directly, but through the money. I heal them.”9. Makes the right calls
He knows what he needs to do to get the job done. For instance, he understands that having a great username for dating websites is the key to being successful. Picking “Little Kid Lover” shows people that he has strong priorities. He also knows that making friends first, sales second, and love third (in no particular order), is essential for running a good business. (…and maybe a presidency - @Bill Clinton)10. Holds himself and others accountable
In the Conflict Resolution episode, Michael tries to make his employees accountable for what they complained about prior. He then tries to fix these complaints. He holds both himself and his employees responsible for making sure they are doing their jobs as effectively as possible.
