10 Reasons I Love My Roommate

Not getting along with my roommate was a fear I had. I realize now that was totally irrational because we get along great. I have truly found my match. I am so thankful for that because I have heard plenty of roommate horror stories. I am proud to say mine is not a horror story. So here are some reasons I love my roommate.

1. We like the same snacks.

Almost every night we sit down with carrots and hummus. We switch to chips and salsa. Then we are eating chocolate. Oh, and don't forget the beef jerky. That is the most important.

2. She keeps our room clean.

She always does her part in helping out. I love that my room is never dirty. Of course there are clothes thrown around sometimes, but I never feel like I am responsible for everything.

3. We have the same sense of humor.

We always are laughing together and laughing so hard. Whether it is doing spit takes at twelve AM or laughing at funny videos on twitter. She always makes me laugh.

4. She does not judge my strange habits.

I have the worst allergies ever and I blow my nose so much in the middle of the night. I talk to my boyfriend every night before bed and she never gets mad at me. She always just lets me do whatever I want/need to do.

5. She listens to my rants when I am annoyed.

Sometimes they are about my boyfriend, sometimes they are about my family, or about our team, even sometimes about her. She always listens and manages to cheer me up.

6. She stands up for me.

If she ever hears people talking about me she will always stand up for me. She can always complain about me, but if anyone complains about me it is not okay.

7. She always forgives.

I can be a real brat sometimes, and we fight. She always forgives me even when I do not verbally express my apology.

8. She always comes with me when I do not want to go somewhere alone.

9. She knows how to have fun.

No matter how tired we can be sometimes, we always have fun. Even during our miserable pre-season, we always had fun together.

10. She sings High School Musical with me in the car.

We are really in this together, and we are so not going our own ways.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
