10 Reasons Why I Hate 'The Bachelorette'

As many of you know, “The Bachelorette” is a reality dating show that is broadcasted on ABC. The show involves a young, unmarried woman who has the opportunity to choose a husband among 25 bachelors. Throughout the season, the Bachelorette offers a rose to the men that she believes she is most compatible with. The men that are offered a rose continue on the show if they accept, while those who are not are automatically eliminated. By the end of each season, it is expected that the bachelorette ends up with the man of her dreams, the man that she is meant to spend the rest of her life with. Personally, I think it is all complete bogus.

I have never watched “The Bachelorette” religiously. The only reason I am familiar with the show is because of its popularity. Whenever I scroll through my Twitter or Facebook feed during the airing of an episode, I see so many posts pertaining to the latest “OMG” moment. A few of my friends are really into the show as well, so sometimes it pops up in conversation, and once in a great while I’ll even find myself stuck watching an episode.

This show is the definition of a guilty pleasure. I hate myself for watching it when I am hanging out with my Bachelorette-obsessed group of friends, but I have to admit that it is entertaining due to its ridiculousness. As I watch it, I can’t help but be reminded that this show goes against what I believe in on so many levels. The values and morals that my parents have taught me over the years will always be important to me; they will always stay close to my heart. Watching people behave so idiotically as they work towards a common goal is so unsettling. I’m sorry, but I wouldn’t want my future husband to discover his “feelings” for me through such a barbaric and abnormal process.

It is safe to say that I am not a fan of the hit show “The Bachelorette.” In my opinion, it is a waste of time for all of those who participate, and it highlights the faultiness of modern society dating. In order for me to fully explain my hatred for this show, I will present my reasons…

1. It makes it seem like being involved with many people at once is completely acceptable.

I’m sorry, but last time I checked cheating is a big no-no.

2. The men will take ridiculous measures in hopes of grabbing the attention of the bachelorette.

3. The men strive to claim the ownership of the Bachelorette, depicting her as an object rather than an individual who deserves respect.

4. The bachelorette is under so much pressure to find her future husband…everything is so forced and unnatural.

5. These people are not acting like their real selves.

Think about it…people act completely different when they’re on camera. The show is so fake!

6. It is so demoralizing to women.

7. The participants are not recognized as humans with their own thoughts and emotions.

8. It portrays such an atrocious view of society and what is deemed as being “normal” now-a-days.

9. It sends the wrong message, especially to teenagers who are extremely vulnerable.

10. Let’s be real…the show has literally contradicted itself because most of the relationships don't even last!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
