In recent years my mother decided that it would be best if we moved out of our house and into a new house with my grandmother. At first I wasn't sure with how this would go, but I realized that moving in with grandma was one of the best things for many reasons, even if I can hear her snoring through the floor in my room.
1. The best meals.
There is absolutely nothing that beats Grandma's cooking. Not only do I love the food, I love being able to sit down and eat with my family and talk about anything and everything.
2. A great movie buddy.
Whenever I'm feeling a little bored, or see a movie I want to watch, Grammy is the best movie buddy ever. No matter what day, what genre, my grandma is all ready to watch any movie.
3. Random gifts.
Every so often I come home to a new little trinket that my grandma saw and thought of me. I appreciate every one.
4. A person to look up to.
My grandma continues to impress me, especially when I have tons of little cousins running around the house. She always keeps her calm, which is something I definitely need to learn. My grandma is the best person I know, and I aspire to be like her.
5. My own personal nurse.
Whenever I'm sick or just hurt myself, I can always count on my grandma to take care of me. Whether it's just a small cut and I need a bandaid, or I'm bed ridden and just need some water, she's always there to help me.
6. The best story teller.
Hearing embarrassing and funny stories from my grandma about my mom, aunts, uncles, and myself when I was younger is the best story time there is.
7. A snack-haven.
Whenever my mom is skimping on the snacks, I know if I just go downstairs to my grandma's house that there will be tons of snacks and she'll let me steal a few.
8. Random money.
As a college student, there is nothing better than randomly getting money. Grammy, thank you for making sure I'm never a broke college student and funding my life.
9. A support system.
No matter what I've done, if it was good or bad, I know my grandma will be there for me to help me through whatever it is.
10. A reason to be happy.
Every day I realize how lucky and blessed I am to have my grandmother around. She might not know it, but she is one of my favorite people in my life and I appreciate her every day.
