Fall is an underrated season, because it marks going back to school and reminds us that the cold weather is coming. But fall is so much more than that. Here are ten reasons you should be excited for fall:

1. Back to School

Going back to school in the fall marks the beginning of a new year. As much as we all hate spending hours in the library and dread waking up early for class, you cannot deny the fact that the beginning of the school year is exciting. It is fresh – time to create new memories and make new friends.

2. The Perfect Weather

As the summer comes to an end, the weather reaches its hottest point, making it almost impossible to breathe outside. This makes us look forward to the cooler fall days. In the words of Cheryll Frasier from ‘Miss Congeniality,’ “it’s not too hot and it’s not too cold, all you need is a light jacket.”

3. Beautiful Scenery

Typically, the colors orange and yellow are not particularly desirable. However, there is certainly something special about these colors on leaves as they change for the season.

4. Football

Whether you’re a fan or not, everyone looks forward to Sunday night football. What’s not to love about eating endless appetizers and cheering on your favorite team with friends?

5. Pumpkin and Apple Picking

Fall is prime time for pumpkin and apple picking. It is a simple, cheap, and fun way to escape the books and have some fun with your closest friends. Put on a cute sweater, find the closest patch, take pictures, pick pumpkins or apples and take them home for your own enjoyment.

6. Clothes

Fall is the perfect time to pair your new boots with high socks and a matching sweater! You can throw your hair up in a cute bun and rock dark red lipstick. Fall allows for much more options in your wardrobe, especially those oversized sweaters and leggings you’ve been dying to snuggle in!

7. Pumpkin Spice

Although pumpkin spice may be considered a typical “white girl” trend, it is one of the biggest parts of fall. Pumpkin spice lattes, coffees, donuts, munchkins, and cupcakes all become a part of daily diets for the season.

8. Hayrides

What better way to experience the thrill of Halloween than a haunted hayride? Whether you are peeing your pants with your BFF or you are snuggling in your boyfriend’s jacket, it is an exciting way to celebrate the spooky holiday!

9. Halloween/ Thanksgiving

Choosing a costume on Halloween is always a tough decision, yet everyone looks forward to it. Whether you want to do a group costume or go solo, you have the right to wear whatever you want and not be judged for it. It is the one night of the year where you can be whoever you want to be, so have fun with it! A month later is Thanksgiving, the time to give thanks for everyone and everything in your life. This is one of the most important days, because people often forget how fortunate they are. Thanksgiving is the day of the year where everyone truly celebrates what they have.

10. Anticipating the most wonderful time of the year…the holidays!

The fall is also great, because it eases people into the most wonderful time of the year. Toward the end of fall, Christmas carols are played, and everyone is ready to cozy-up on the couch with a cup of hot chocolate, ready to watch the snow fall. Although the weather is cold, there is always so much to do during the Holidays and everyone is the happiest they could be.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
