Anyone that has ever had a pet dog knows just how amazing they are and how quickly they become our best friends. I am in no way discrediting humans and their friendship capabilities but I think we all can agree that dogs pretty much beat humans on the awesome scale. There are so many reasons why dogs are the most beloved furry animals out there and here are just a few that make dogs better than humans:
1. They are impossible to stay mad at
Did they really just chew up the whole newspaper to pieces throughout the whole house?! Why yes they did, but seriously look how cute they look hiding under the coffee table. Let me get out my camera so I can post this on Facebook.
2. They don't cause drama
We all know that drama between our human friends can tend to get out of hand and exhausting. Well I think it's safe to say then that this will be sure to never happen with our fury, four-legged friends. They are all the fun with no baggage!
3. They are always down to take a nap
Whether it's after school or even before work, you can always count on the best cuddle partner for a quick nap. Literally at all hours of the day and for hours at a time, they are great at enabling your procrastination, and they make it totally worth it.
4. Every time you come home, they act like you were gone for days at a time
Even if you just went to get the mail, they are still so excited when you walk through the door. It's like a sweet 16 entrance every time you come home. It's an awesome thing to look forward to all day, am I right?
5. You can do the weirdest / dumbest / silliest / stupidest thing and they still love you no matter what
They catch you doing something weird and you think "oh it's okay, no one saw" because there seems to be this unspoken mutual agreement that your dog will just accept your weirdness and move on. I think this assumption is true, though. Your dog is just always there and never judges you for belting Adele's "Hello" with your headphones in unaware of your awful pitch problems.
6. They are so dang cute
I think this one is pretty self-explanatory, right? When they're sleeping, when they are running circles around your house, when they run into the glass door, or when they think you've thrown the ball and go looking for it come to find out you didn't. Every little thing they do is just an "Awwwww" moment. Well almost everything, but we'll let a few things slip.
7. They let you squeeze their faces and give them 1,004 kisses a day
I think the only human that thinks this is okay to do to other humans is Grandma or that random great-aunt you see at holidays that always calls you by your sibling's name instead of your own. I believe that dogs just accept their fate when they see you inching closer to them with your hands in squeezing position and your lips in a kiss-face. It really is impossible to walk past them all sleepy on the couch without making a pit-stop to throw in a couple kisses.
8. They don’t judge
Dogs among other animals don't judge. They are companionate to you no matter what faults and flaws you have. They treat you like the most amazing human to walk the Earth and in their eyes, you very much are.
9. They will always keep you company
Our dogs are just always there. Whether your crying in your bed after a breakup or coming home from school to a (human) empty house. They just never go anywhere and not because they have no choice, well, because they're domesticated animals that usually can't open doors, but just because they know that they need to be available in arm's reach at all times. They provide a constant shoulder to cry on and lick to the face in pretty much any situation. It's never a question, they are just there and seem to be 100x more reliable than most human friends we have.
10. They provide an indescribable comfort
Somehow dogs just get it. They know when you are sad or sick and they definitely know when you are happy or excited. It really is a very hard bond to explain because there are really no words for it. You never knew that all you really needed was to just be with your dog when you felt sad until next time you're upset, you go straight to your dog for a hug before anyone else. Dogs just make everything better.
Dog teach us to love unconditionally because they love us through all of our faults, mistakes and bad days. They love you no matter what. They are the type of best friend that you can’t get in a human, even if you tried. They are kisses, warmth, happiness and laughs all wrapped into one fluffy, soft, cute ball of love, that just happens to have paws and sometimes eat crayons.
