It's that time for year again, college students everywhere are about to start heading off to school during these next couple weeks. Freshmen will be going to a new place for the first time; they maybe a bit scared and not know what to expect, but for us returning students, we know we cannot wait to be back at college. Here are 10 reasons we cannot wait to finally be on campus again.

1. Being reunited with our friends.

This is an obvious one. Most of us have been away from our everyday besties for a few months now and the separation anxiety is getting real. You spend every day with your friends and then have to endure the torture of being apart from them all summer. Sure we all have our friends from home, but our college friends cannot be matched. And naturally you all probably have a count down of how many days until you are reunited.

2. Not living with our parents.

Sure being in your own bed is nice, but after being on your own for 9 months of the year, living at home can be rough. No more curfews, no more nagging, freedom is so close. While our parents mean well, as young adults we crave the freedom of being at school.

3. Our roommate(s).

Whether you are in a dorm, suite, or a house, spending the summer alone in your room just hasn't been the same. We miss the late night talks, the pre-pre-games, the movie nights and just having someone to approve your outfits and tell you it's OK to skip class.

4. College towns/cities.

Coming home in the summer is nice, but it can get pretty boring. Most colleges are in towns or cities with lots of stuff for college kids to do. Your friends are a walk away, there's so much food in a few mile radius, and a never ending supply of activities. If your school is close to a city there are always exciting things going on and you can never be bored. Hometowns cannot compare to everything there is to offer at college.

5. The various dining options.

There have been so many times this summer where I've been hungry and we have no food. At college food is just a short walk away and there are options for every craving. Also late night food. At my school, late night food is the greatest thing to ever exist. You will never go hungry once you're back on campus.

6. The gym.

When the gym is in walking distance, there really is no excuse not to go. Gym memberships at home can be pricey and far away, but at school it's all at your fingertips.

7. The parties/bars/social life.

I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss college weekends. You only have four years to party it up and I know I am ready to get back into the swing of things. Our social lives at home are nothing compared to school. Whether it's the bars or a party, there is always something to do at college. There's nothing like knowing you'll be back at happy hour with your friends in just a few short weeks.

8. No more work.

A lot of us have been working tirelessly all summer long, but that is soon coming to an end. Though some people do have jobs at school, our schedules are not as draining as summer jobs tend to be. Going back to school is a time to kick back and enjoy all the hard earned money from the summer.

9. Care packages.

Going back to school means, more care packages!! Family and friends love sending things to broke, starving, and stressed college students. There is no better feeling than getting an email that you have mail at school.

10. The classes.

Because, that's why we are here, right?

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
